Thanks to the Sakurajima update,Palworldhas received many new additions that enhance the game and players' experience. Content such as a new PvP arena, island, and stronghold have given people more reason to continue playing the game.The July update forPalworldcontinues to aid the growth of Pocketpair’s creation, providing it with more substantial changes such as new customization options, bug fixes, etc. However, one strange addition seems to have been glossed over in the recent patch notes. Although not as substantial as the other pieces of content, it is still noteworthy due to the air of mystery surrounding it.
A small update in July sawPalworldreceiving a few adjustments and improvements. While changes such as enemy damage reductions or the addition of new features are standard, what’s not is content that seems to have gone unmentioned or unnoticed. The recent update introduced a new NPC titled the Cautious PIDF Officer, a seemingly normal officer stationed at Marsh Island. The character seems to play no important role in the game, but that may change one day if Pocketpair decides to do anything with it.
Why the Cautious PIDF Officer Is Significant
Palworldadding an NPC and not mentioning it in the patch notesis a move that can baffle players, as some would wonder why such an addition wouldn’t be mentioned at all. The Cautious PIDF Officer’s only known role is to tell players about the nearby stronghold. Other than that, the character has no other significance. While it is strange that Pocketpair didn’t state its addition in the changelog, perhaps it’s because the developer believed it wasn’t worth mentioning due to its minor role. However, some would say that the officer’s existence holds some significance, as it can actually do some useful things:
The NPC could be the main reason some new players know about the existence ofPalworld’s Oil Rig stronghold, assuming they haven’t heard about the details of the Sakurajima content. Regardless, the Cautious PIDF Officer may play a big role in the future if Pocketpair decides to give more roles to the character.
Although in the simplest manner possible, the officer helps players by letting them know how dangerous the Oil Rig stronghold is. It can be speculated that the character may be a field test for Pocketpair to see whether it should add more NPCs that dole out information on certain in-game areas. If the developer likes this NPC, the future may introduce characters with more value, such as ones that tell players the exactlocation of the tower bosses inPalworldand maybe even give helpful strategies on how to beat them. Even if future NPCs keep it simple in pointing out certain structures or areas, similar to the Cautious PIDF Officer, their addition would still be significant enough to enhance the gameplay experience.
FuturePalworldupdates need to flesh out the game’s open world, and having more NPCs like the Cautious PIDF Officer or improved versions of the character might be the way to go. Though the NPC’s addition may have been overlooked by some, it could lead to significant changes that could help take Pocketpair’s creation to better heights.
