InPaper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, there are optional quests that you can take at the Trouble Center in Rogueport (East). These won’t immediately be accessible at the start of your playthrough, but the Trouble Center will unlock once you’ve arrived in Petalburg. The more chapters you complete inThousand-Year Door, the more side quests become available. “Get these ingredients!” is requested by Chef Shimi. While you may expect more from this side quest’s reward, it’s good to know where to find the three ingredients if you’re planning on completing the recipe book or stocking on HP/FP-restoring items that aren’t Mushrooms or Syrups.
Get these ingredients! Walkthrough
Where to Find All Ingredients
Once you’ve completedChapter 6, visit the Trouble Center in East Rogueport. This is the building with the green sign next to Bobbery’s house, but at this point inTTYD, you probably know where it’s located. Select the “Get these ingredients!” Trouble, and you’ll be given a list of items to gather for Chef Shimi:
You’ve already been to all the places where these ingredients can be farmed. In short, you can find the Golden Leafat the Creepy Steeple, the Mystic Egg at Boggly Woods, and the Keel Mango at Keelhaul Key. Once you have all three of these items, board theExcess Express at Rogueport WestorPoshley Heights. Speak to Chef Shimi to give him the requested ingredients. As a reward, you’ll get 40 Coins.
If you haven’t done so already, you should go to the Warp Pipe Room. This will make “Get these ingredients!” much easier and save you some time.
How to Get Golden Leaf
Creepy Steeple
The Golden Leaf can be shaken from the golden tree in Creepy Steeple. To reach it, you’re going to need to use Mario’s ability to turn sideways (ZR-button). Here’s what to do:
You can get multiple Golden Leaves, but you’ll need to leave the area first. This will cause them to respawn.
A Golden Leaf restores 10FP when used in or outside of battle. While it’s not bad for a beginner item, you’ll have more than just 10FP at this point in your playthrough. Thus, it’s better to take it to Zess T. in Rogueport and have her cook it into something like Zess Tea (restores 20FP). Once you have the Cookbook key item, you can combine the Golden Leafwith another ingredientto make something stronger, such as the Zess Deluxe.
How to Get Keel Mango
Keelhaul Key
The Keel Mango can be obtained from the palm trees at Keelhaul Key, but the quickest way to get them is to head east from the Keelhaul campsite. If you’re using the warp pipe room, you can take the warp pipe (no.5) to spawn you in the center of camp. From there, head east and you’ll see several palm trees. Just like the Golden Leaf tree, hit the palm tree with the hammer. This will cause a Keel Mango to drop to the ground.
As an item, Keel Mango only heals 5HP, so you’re better off cooking it at Zess T.’s to get something stronger. It can be combined with other ingredients to make stronger meals. One recipe is the Keel Mango and Peachy Peach. This will make a Fruit Parfait, which restores 10HP and 2FP.
How to Get Mystic Egg
Stump Petuni Guide
The Mystic Egg can be found in Boggly Woods, but you won’t be able to buy it or forage it. Instead, you can receive one as a reward from Petuni, who’s standing nearby the Puni Elder and Punio. Speak to her, and you’ll have to play a minigame called “Stump Petuni.” The goal of this minigame is to ask a question that Petuni can answer. You’re given three options per four prompts. While you can mix and match words, Petuni can only answer one question. Here are your prompts and the best/only question:
the most?
the best?
what room…
for the heck of it?
“Mario likes which person the most?” is the correct answer for Stump Petuni. She’ll answer Princess Peachand then give Mario a Mystic Egg. Like the Golden Leaf, you can have more than one Mystic Egg at a time if you exit the area, then come back. Mystic Eggs can be cooked by Zess T. in Rogueport to make a Fried Egg, or you can combine it with another ingredient to make something else.
