ASUS revealed thatAMDwill host a special event at Gamescom 2024 on August 23. PC gamers may want to mark the date, since AMD’s history at the annual Gamescom convention shows that new product reveals, such asAMDprocessors and GPUs, and updates are possible.

AMD previously delayed the launch date for Ryzen 9000 CPUsfrom July 31 to August 8 and August 15 in two product releases. According to AMD, the launch of the Zen 5 processors was delayed due to manufacturing errors, prompting AMD to issue a recall. One of the errors involved some AMD processors being mislabeled, such as a Ryzen 7 9700X being misprinted as “Ryzen 9 9700X.” Some of these issues were identified in testing by AMD, but it’s unclear what the other issues were. The Ryzen 9000 lineup will be available at retail just a few days before Gamescom 2024 begins on August 21.

ASUS Confirms an AMD Gamescom 2024 Event Will Be Held on August 23

At last year’s Gamescom event, AMD revealed its Radeon 7700 XT andRadeon 7800 XT GPUs. If the AMD Gamescom 2024 event were to have product reveals and updates, AMD could share more details on its RDNA3 mobile lineup, including the Radeon RX 7800M graphics card and Ryzen 9000X3D CPU series. The company could also share an update on 800 chipset motherboards. However, it’s still unclear whether product reveals of any kind will happen at the AMD event.

Thus far, a reveal of RDNA 4 at Gamescom 2024 appears to be unlikely. Rumors suggest that AMD could release its RDNA 4 desktop graphics cards in early 2025, and a late 2024 release is also possible. Leaked documentation also suggests that theRDNA 4 architecture will power the rumored PlayStation 5 Pro consolefrom Sony. If true, the PS5 Pro will feature greatly improved ray tracing capabilities compared to Sony’s current PS5 models.
