Elgyem is one of the few Pokemon in the series that have direct ties to outer space. LikeClefairy and Lunatone, Elgyem is thought to have first appeared on earth after a crash-landing, albeit in an UFO instead of a meteorite. Elgyem is thought to have only been on the planet for roughly 50 years prior to the events ofPokemon Black and White, but this piece of fanart gives a look at an ancient take on the Pokemon.
Pokemonfan and artist Matratzfratz shared their design for an ancient Paradox form for Elgyem with fellowPokemonfans on social media sites. The design keeps the same general body shape for Elgyem, including its large oblong head, but gives it an Ancient Egypt-like makeover. Ancient Paradox Elgyem wears garb in this version, which look extremely similar to mummy wrappings. AncientElgyemhas a uraeus on its forehead, which was a sign of power and sovereignty in ancient Egypt. The outline on Elgyem’s head and arms have been replaced with golden trim, and its Shiny variant is paler, with white wrappings, blue eyes, and a lighter body.
Pokemon Fans Like Elgyem, but…
Fans in the comments seem to be quite positive about Matratzfratz’s design for Elgyem. The artist themselves said that they feel the Pokemon doesn’t get much attention in its official form becausethe Pokemon has a bland design. While they were excited about the notion of an “actual alien Pokemon,” the design struck them as a let-down. However, other comments chimed in as well, praising the design and talking about how much they like Elgyem, with one noting that even though they appreciate Elgyem, it seemed weak in its official design, and a Paradox form could have changed that.
Whether Elgyem gets any attention in a futurePokemongame remains to be seen.Pokemon Legends: Z-Ais bringing back Mega Evolutions, but there’s no way of knowing which Pokemon will get that special treatment until Game Freak decides to share. With more Pokemon joining the franchise with every mainline game, there’s a fair chance that Elgyem may be left behind. However, fans have shown that the Pokemon isn’t forgotten, even if it the series doesn’t give theouter space Pokemonthe attention they feel it deserves.
