Summary

A prolificPokemonfan artist has recently designed a new Steel/Electric-type variant for Sudowoodo.Pokemonfans love to reimagine classic creatures with alternative types, and Sudowoodo is an interesting pick due to its unique design, considering it’s a Rock-type monster that looks like a tree.

Sudowoodo first appeared inthe second generation ofPokemongames. Players inPokemon Gold, Silver, andCrystalcannot miss the odd-looking Pokemon, which can be found blocking a road on Route 36, preventing the main character from moving forward. When gamers acquire the Squirtbottle from Goldenrod City, they can use it to challenge this critter, removing the Pokemon from the way, and even having the only chance to capture it in the entire game. While the creature eventually gained a pre-evolution called Bonsly, it never received an official variant.

Now, aPokemonfan called Just-Drawing-Mons decided to reimagine the classic Sudowoodo as a Steel/Electric-type creature. In this form, instead of looking like a tree, Sudowoodo actually resembles a traffic light post. That’s a pretty clever twist, as the new design maintains Sudowoodo’s overall shape, but instead of having rocks resembling leaves on its hand, for example, it comes with traffic lights and metal skin.

Fan Art Depicts Sudowoodo As a Steel/Electric-type Pokemon

Just-Drawing-Mons is a prolific fan artist who often imagines newPokemondesigns, and this is not the first time that the fan has devised an alternative Sudowoodo. A few months ago, Just-Drawing-Monscreated a Water-type Sudowoodo, for example. This alternative form was mostly inspired by a sea cucumber, having a completely different pink and light blue skin, and a slightly distinct shape.

Perhaps due to the monster’s unique design, it’s easy to find manyPokemonfans who have attempted to create new forms for Sudowoodo. Earlier this year, for example, onePokemonplayer imagined aMega Evolution for Sudowoodo based on giant baobab trees. This new form still had the same colors, but it had a rounder, shorter body, mimicking the endangered tree species.

Last year, anotherPokemonfan designed a human version of Sudowoodo. In this unique design, Sudowoodo appeared as a human boy with green and brown Korean ceremonial clothes that greatly resembled the Gen 2 Pokemon, including a long hat and some objects that resembled Sudowoodo’s hands. Hopefully, fans such as Just-Drawing-Mons and these other talented artists will continue to have interesting ideas for new Pokemon variants while the community waits for official alternative versions for Sudowoodo.
