APokemonfan has designed two new Castform evolutions in an incredible piece of art celebrating the Gen 3 Pokemon. Since it was added to thePokemonuniverse in Gen 3, Castform has lacked evolutions, but this fan has an interesting idea to rectify that.
Pokemonis a popular franchise that has been around sinceRed and Bluewere released in 1998. As new generations have been released over the years, the Pokedex has expanded to over 1,000 Pokemon. Beyond adding new Pokemon, Gen 2 introduced day and night, Gen 3 featured double battles, and Gen 4 brought global trading.Ruby and Sapphirewere the firstPokemongames released for the Game Boy Advance, with some fans remaining dedicated to them over 20 years later. The titles also received 3DS remakes in 2014 which gave some Pokemon Mega Evolutions and Primal Reversions. OnePokemonfan has designed two new evolutions forGen 3 Pokemon Castform.
Reddit user IridescentMirage recently shared an image of Castform with their two evolution concepts next to the Pokemon. The middle evolution is similar to a tadpole, with the bubbles featured at the bottom of Castform moved to its eyes and the side of its body. The third form resembles a three-legged starfish with wisps of clouds flowing from each leg and its eyes. Despite the Castform aesthetic being lost a bit in the second form, the final one has its eyes and a cloud that forms a similar smile. According to the Redditor, the middle evolution is inspired by raindrops and wind gusts, while the final one is meant to be a storm. ThePokemonfan also stated that their Castform evolutions aren’t split, and they follow the traditional object evolution model. This means that players would likely use aPokemonitemwith their Castform to evolve it.
Pokemon Fan Makes Unique Castform Evolutions
AsPokemon Ruby and Sapphirewere the first games in the series to offer weather effects, it’s fitting that Castform first appeared in Gen 3. Castform already has alternate forms in sun, rain, and snow, which may carry over to any future evolutions. Though IridescentMirage hasn’t shared weather-related forms, the sunny one may have warm colors, while the rainy one may be darker. With weather effects continuing to be used inmodernPokemongames, it may make sense for Game Freak to look at giving Castform evolutions or alternate forms. If the Pokemon got attention in the future, there could also be different weather forms introduced for hail, sandstorms, and fog.
IridescentMirage has confirmed that they intend to create 2D sprites and possibly full artworks for their Castform evolutions. AsGame Freak continues to develop newPokemongames, a future installment may give Castform some overdue attention.
