A talentedPokemonfan has recently designed an alternative Mega Evolution for Blastoise. Mega Evolutions are temporary transformations that were first introduced in the sixth generation ofPokemongames. Right now, there are a total of 48 official Mega Evolutions, but fans often design their fan-made takes on this concept.
Blastoise is a Water-type Pokemon that first appeared inPokemon Red and Blue. This creature is part of the Squirtle evolutionary line, and it’s notable for being the final form of one ofthe three starter Pokemonthat appear in Gen 1. By Level 16, Squirtle evolves into Wartortle, becoming Blastoise from Level 36 onwards. Blastoise officially received a Mega Evolution in Gen 6 and also has a special Gigantamax form, which is only available inPokemon Sword and Shield.
Now, aPokemonfan artist called Kampy5567 has shared their latest creation, an alternative Mega Evolution for Blastoise called “Mega Blastoise X.” According to the creature’s lore, this form can only be achieved by using rare Mega Stones that have appeared recently in the region of Alola. Mega Blastoise X has a pretty interesting design that seems greatly inspired by Wartortle, and it comes with an amazing wave-inspired tail instead of a cannon on its back. The creature is available with customized stats, and a shiny form, which is light green instead of blue.

Due to its popularity, Blastoise is often featured inPokemonfan art. Last year, for example, a fan designed aGhost-type regional variant for Blastoise. This regional variant was a Water/Ghost-type monster with mostly purple colors. Curiously, it had a similar design to Kampy5567’s recent work, maintaining a Wartle-inspired shape.
Mega Evolutions are also fairly popular with the community, and onePokemonfan created a Mega Muklast month. In this new design, Muk gained an even more menacing form, looking bigger and even more deformed than its original counterpart.
Earlier this month, anotherfan created four Mega Evolutions for different Pokemon. The gallery shared by the player included Mega Evolutions for Feraligatr, Charmeleon, Reuniclus, and Raichu. While all designs looked good, Feraligatr had one of the most noteworthy ones, as the creature was completely reimagined as a spiked, monstrous alligator-inspired monster. Other creatures, such as the Chameleon, were also pretty unique, looking like a fiery dinosaur with flaming fists. While no new official Mega Evolutions appear in the franchise, gamers will likely keep creating their personal takes on these creatures, reimagining them with new elements.
