InPokemon Scarlet and Violet, Grovyle can be obtained by eithercatching and evolving a Treeckoin the Terarium’s Canyon Biome or by usingPokemon HOMEto transfer one over.
Although Grovyle is not often seen inPokemonfan art, that did not stop one artist from giving the Hoenn starter a new look. A Reddit user named Matratzfratz posted their version of a Paradox Grovyle on the r/pokemon subreddit. Taking inspiration from ancient birds, the Ancient Paradox Grovyle was given the name “Old Wing” to be in line with otherPokemon Scarletcreatures. Paradox Grovyle retained its pose from official artwork, but its body was covered in brown, yellow, and auburn feathers. Old Wing was also given the Flying-type as its only Pokemon type, which puts it in the same category asthe Legendary Pokemon called Tornadus. Ergo, Old Wing would be immune to Ground-type attacks, but also weak to Electric Pokemon moves like Thunderbolt and Volt Switch.

Matratzfratz’s Paradox Grovyle had a beak in place of its lizard-like snout, with talons on its hands and feet. In addition, Old Wing was given avian legs to match its physiology. Known for their previous work withgiving Electrode a Master Ball Mega Evolutionform, Matratzfratz also showed a small glimpse of Old Wing’s shiny form. In short, the shiny Paradox Grovyle kept the same green and peach color palette as thePokemon Ruby and Sapphirestarter, which served as this piece’s inspiration.
However, no further abilities or moves were listed by the artist for Old Wing. Given thatParadox Pokemon are a favorite fan art subject, it remains to be seen if these ninth-generation critters will continue to appear in futurePokemongames.
