Summary

Cacnea may not be one of the most popular creatures in thePokemonfranchise, but that did not stop one fan from giving it a third form with some fan art. Many of the hundreds of creatures available to catch inPokemonhave three separate forms, but some were left with just one or two, so fans are often quick to make up the difference with their own takes.

Debuting inPokemon Ruby and Sapphire,Cacnea is a grass-type Pokemon with a design clearly emulating a real-life cactus, with spines coming from its arms and a yellow crest on its head. Its evolved form, Cacturne, is taller and more humanoid while retaining the same overall elements, though the Pokemon never received a third evolution.

Luckily, Reddit user Matratzfratz stepped in with their own idea, sharing their concept art for a third possible form for Cacnea that takes the design in a more natural direction compared to Cacturne. Dubbed Cacsperado by the artist, the proposed alternate evolution retains the bulkier look of Cacnea, but has a taller head crest, bigger eyes and mouth, and pointed leaves on the ends of its arms.

Pokemon Fan’s Alternate Cacnea Evolution Idea Makes it Much More Unique

According to the artist, Cacnea would evolve into Cacsperado after using the move Bullet Seed 20 times, at which point it would take on the Fire type alongside its original Grass. This would make it only the second Pokemon to take on the Grass/Fire typing combo, asScovillain fromPokemon Scarlet and Violetwas the first one to ever have it.

Another user pointed out that Cacnea’s shiny form takes on a brownish color scheme that makes it appear dried out or burnt, suggesting that a shiny Cacsperado may look the same. While this would fit well with the Pokemon’s overall theme, shiny Pokemon are unique for a reason, so it may not make sense for it to look similar to its shiny form already.

Given that Cacnea is the original form of the Pokemon, the new proposed evolution appears to be an alternate second form alongside Cacturne, rather than the third in a line. Others are known for having two or more optional forms as well, with the most popular being Eevee, who can turn intoone of eight different Pokemondepending on how it evolves.
