WhilePoochyena and Mightyena fan arthas been done before, aPokemontrainer took their work to the next level. A Reddit user named EliDwebster created a new evolution for the Bite Pokemon and shared their work on the r/Pokemon subreddit. EliDwebster dubbed this evolution Grimyena and said it evolved from Mightyena at level 31. To trigger the evolution process, a Mightyena must use a new move called Clay Crunch to defeat three Ghost Pokemon at night. Grimyena has a hunched back shaped like a mountain and has brown spots on all four limbs. Grimyena was also classified as a Dark and Ground dual-type Pokemon and came with a new ability called Scavenger to complement Intimidate. According to EliDwebster, Scavenger would steal certain held items upon winning a battle and would increase Grimyena’s speed if the item is valuable.
Pokemon Fan Creates New Poochyena and Mightyena Evolution
According to EliDwebster, Grimyena’s design is based on a giant short-faced hyena, which was said to scavenge graveyards during the Middle Ages. In addition to its use as an evolutionary move, Grimyena’s Clay Crunch is a physical Ground attack that can absorb HP similarly to Giga Drain and Leech Life. However, Clay Crunch would also lower a Ghost Pokemon’s defense by two stages, which would make ita powerful move for Pokemon trainers to consider. In response, somePokemonfans complimented the artist for giving Poochyena and Mightyena more attention with their fan art.
While Poochyena and Mightyena are notthe most recognizable Dark Pokemon, that has not stopped fan artists from giving their favorites a little attention. It remains to be seen if Mightyena will get a new form in futurePokemongames.
