Two members of thePokemoncommunity known online as GreenScottish and meluharegion recently shared a few new regional variant concepts of their very own. They focus on bringing the Fire-type to the Gastly family with a set of regional variant designs for Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar - a family of Pokemon that has remained popular throughout the decades since they first appeared inthe originalPokemon Red and Greengames. The designs themselves take inspiration from various yokai, with the pure Fire-type shared between each of these fan-made Pokemon suggesting that the unofficial region they’re found in is a particularly volcanic one.

The creators, unfortunately, didn’t provide much more information about these Pokemon. With GreenScottish behind the idea for these designs, meluharegion, the artist who drew them, did show off the shiny forms of each creature. It’s not uncommon for like-minded artists within thePokemoncommunity to create custom Paradox Pokemonand regional variants of their own, with such designs often featuring fully-fledged Pokedex entries, unique moves and abilities, and more.

Fanmade Pokemon designs have been in no short supply sincethe reveal ofPokemon Legends: Z-Aearlier this year, with many fans incredibly eager to discover more about the next installment of the series and the return of Mega Evolution. Little is currently known about the game, but fans can look forward to returning to the Kalos region during a time of renovation for Lumiose City. While it has been confirmed that Mega Pokemon will be making a comeback in the title, it’s also very likely thatPokemon Legends: Z-Awill introduce a plethora of new Kalosian regional variants, similar to its predecessor,Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
