Pokemon GOhas become well known for its wide variety of events over the years. On August 31,Pokemon GOwill have a Community Day with Poppiloas the featured Pokemon to catch. A community day has lined up every month inPokemon GOsince January 2018, some with returning featured Pokemon and others unique. Community Days allow players to catch an increased amount of the same Pokemon and its multiple forms over the course of a few hours, with a prime opportunity to catch a shiny. The day also gives players the option to purchase Community Day Special Research tasks, which are small goals with a reward in line with the event. Raids have also been known to spawn in Gyms with the Pokemon featured during that day.
Pokemon GOhas confirmed the dates for its first Wild Area event. It is set to start in Fukuoka, Japan, from November 16 to 17 and globally from November 23 to 24. There haven’t been many details about this event, but Pokemon fans can stay tuned onPokemon GO’s Twitter or blog for more information coming soon. The Wild Area could be similar to other live events like thePokemon GOSafari Zone, where players purchase a ticket to participate in the event directly or take the opportunity to catch special spawns of Pokemon throughout the area.

Niantic also holds an annual event calledPokemon GOFest, a major part of the game since 2017. It serves as the biggest celebration ofPokemon GO, and since 2022, it has consistently happened over multiple cities a year. Starting in 2020,Pokemon GOFest has included global celebrations along with ticketed in-person events in specific locations.
Niantic has done its best when keeping the number of available Pokemon on par with the rest of the franchise. This September,Pokemon GOis set to debut 13 new Pokemon, including the Galar region starters like Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble. Stonjourner will also be available as a UK regional exclusive, giving an incentive for travelers to catch the Pokemon from another region.Pokemon GOcontinues to be a game that encourages players to journey far and wide to catch them all.
