Summary
Pokemon GOhas revealed that Beldum will be featured for its August Community Day Classic event. These monthlyPokemon GOevents are focused on taking a past Community Day event/Pokemon and giving longtime players a chance to enjoy it again with some tweaks. Newcomers to the game will be able to appreciate the event as a fresh experience. With so many Pokemon inPokemon GO’sPokedex, Community Day offers a way to highlight each one for what makes them unique.
Beldum was last given a spotlight inPokemon GOduring an Incense eventthat allowed trainers a chance to grab its Community Day move. A Beldum equipped with Meteor Mash has the potential to evolve into an especially powerful version of the longtime fan favorite Pokemon Metagross, which is originally from Generation 3 of the franchise. Players who prioritize this Pokemon in their team composition may have an easier time taking on certain gyms.
The Community Day Classic Pokemon for August is Beldum. This event will begin on Sunday, August 18, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm in each player’s local time. With this event, Beldum will appear more frequently in the wild. The previous Community Day event for Beldum was in 2018, and this version appears to have some added leniency, allowing players two hours after to evolve Metang and get the Charged Meteor Mash attack. Event bonuses include 1/4 Hatch Distance for Eggs that are placed in incubators, Lure Modules and Incense lasting three hours, and a teased surprise for anyone who takes snapshots during the event.
It is noted that shiny encounters are available for Beldum. Players that aredetermined to catch a shiny Beldummay be able to shiny hunt faster with an increased encounter rate. Additionally, players will be able to participate in Community Day Classic Special Research for $1. Field Research will also be available, granting access to items such as Stardust, heightened Beldum encounter rates, and Great Balls. Niantic teases PokeStop Showcases as another challenge for trainers who are eager to battle.
Compared to the July Community Day event that featured Tynamo, there’s a bit less going on during the Beldum event, particularly with raid battles. However, the tradeoff appears to be how powerful the Pokemon is.The Tynamo eventthat gave players an Elektross with Volt Switch had the move at 12 power for trainer battles, and 14 for Gyms and raids. Comparatively, a Metagross that knows Meteor Mash will have the move at 100 power for all battles, which will be worth it to players looking for a strong new Pokemon.
