In every single encounter, their attempts to catch the Shiny Alolan Sandshrew failed, with the Pokemon running away from the trainer all three times. Although they were successful in landing a standard Alolan Sandshrew, it doesn’t come close to making up for the missed Shinies.

Players initially suspected that MxC2031 was using some kind of autocatcher, like thePokemon GO Plus+, but they denied it, saying that every time they had tried to catch them normally. However, a problem was quickly revealed with their technique, as the player hadn’t used any berries on the Shiny Sandshrew. Fellow fans pointed out that using berries and throwing curveballs with good or better hits are typically a must for catching rare Pokemon.
