Red Dead Redemption 2is an action-packed offering from Rockstar. It is set in the Wild West in 1899, and it follows the lives of the members of the Van der Linde gang as they face an increasingly industrial landscape. With a distinct focus on realism, it is one of the most immersive open-world games available.
Although there are plenty of high-adrenaline, exciting moments inRed Dead Redemption 2, there are also scary parts. The nextRed Dead Redemptiongame should capitalize on these moments and ramp up the fear factor. This can be done by paying careful attention to the wildlife.
As previously stated,Red Dead Redemption 2places a strong emphasis on realism. This extends to the fauna found throughout the map. Food cycles are depicted beautifully, and various animals behave in realistic ways. This means that some animals are friendly while others are to be avoided.
Some of the scariest moments inRed Dead Redemption 2come from exploring the wild and dealing with the dangerous wildlife that inhabits the land. Some dangers are hard to spot, such as snakes. Getting bitten by asnake inRDR 2is always a frightful moment that has the controller vibrating, and after the first couple of times it happens, it’ll have players' eyes glued to the ground.
The cougar isn’t small, but it has tanned fur that blends in with its environment. It also stalks its prey, making it hard to spot until it finally strikes. For these reasons, it’s advised that players have their weapons drawn and theirDead Eye fullwhen hunting for this cat.
Not all dangers are hard to detect. Players aren’t likely to miss the massive grizzly bear with its mighty roar. It charges towards the player and attacks aggressively, giving players very little chance to brace themselves. Fortunately, there is a trick to these creatures. IfArthur Morganstands his ground while the bear charges towards him, there is a chance the bear will be intimidated and give up on its attack.
Perhaps the scariest encounter with wildlife occurs whenArthur Morgan crosses paths with a lion. The beast is encountered during the side-mission titled “He’s British, of Course.” It’s a vicious animal that doesn’t go down easily, making it truly frightening to meet face to face.
RDR 2does a good job of illustrating the deadly side of North America’s wildlife, but there’s still room for improvement. This can be achieved by thenextRed Dead Redemptiongame, which will have access to more advanced gaming tech with which it can depict an even more realistic open-world.
There’s a lot that can be done with venomous creatures, and the next game shouldn’t limit itself to venomous snakes. Other creatures with venom should also be included, such as insects and arachnids. Although they may be small, these animals are still terrifying with their ability to bring death with a single sting or bite.
Red Dead Redemption 3should also place a greater emphasis on nocturnal wildlife. Night should be a terrifying time to be out in the wild. This can be achieved by including more North American carnivores of the night, and ensuring these creatures use the darkness to their advantage to creep up on the player.
Red Dead Redemption3has yet to be announced by Rockstar, and it appearsthe studio is still fixated onGrand Theft Auto 6for now. Hopefully, players haven’t seen the end of the Western franchise, as there are still several stories to be told within the world of the Van der Linde gang.
