The popular multiplayer mode first appeared in 2014’sAdvanced Warfareand has since gone on to appear inBlack Ops 3andInfinite Warfare. Aside from appearing inCall of Duty: Mobile, the mode has not been seen in a mainlineCall of Dutygame for eight years now. There were talks ofSledgehammer Games adding Uplink toCall of Duty: WW2,but the studio failed to make the primarily jet pack-based mode fit the theme ofWW2.
Uplink Could Finally Return to Call of Duty
The officialBlack Ops 6open beta releaseis set for the end of August, but data miners are already uncovering plenty of details about the upcoming shooter thanks to the recently leaked build. According to COD Warfare, in-game files reference Uplink multiple times. The leaker revealed in a follow-up tweet that the following lines of text can be found inBlack Ops 6’s files:
Uplink originally required players to get ahold of a satellite drone, which usually spawns in the center of the map, and take the drone to the enemy’s starting location. Previous entries, such asAdvanced Warfare, allowed the objective to be placed high up in the sky, as players could boost into the air using jetpacks. It’s currently unclear how the mode will be adapted to fit aCall of Dutytitle without jetpacks, but there’s every possibility thatBlack Ops 6’s new omnidirectional movementcould factor in greatly to how the mode plays.
