Summary

Concept art of what appears to beBluepoint Games’next title may have leaked in a new studio tour video. The Austin-based development team last released theDemon’s Soulsremake in 2020, following whichBluepoint Gameswas acquired by Sony in 2021.

Ever since then, the studio has been working on an “original” project, which appears to be a fairly straightforward description. However, a lot of fans speculate that the deliberate phrasing might allude to Bluepoint developing a new installment or reboot of an existing PlayStation franchise, rather than a brand-new IP. The studio remains tight-lipped on the project for now, but its Head of Technology, Peter Dalton, did reaffirm a while ago thatwork on Bluepoint’s next game is still underway. The developer issued this statement in response to some rumors that the project might have been canceled.

Bluepoint Games

A presentation retrieved from themassive Insomniac data breach in December 2023showed concept art for in-development projects at several PlayStation studios, including Bluepoint Games. The artwork depicts two characters holding spears overlooking what seems like an Aztec pyramid, with the general theme skewing towards the fantasy side. Now, arecently uploaded LinkedIn videoof Malaysian prime minister Gobind Singh Deo visiting PlayStation Studios' Malaysia office might have inadvertently revealed some more concept art for Bluepoint’s next game around the 22-second mark.

Newfound Concept Art Possibly Alludes to the Setting of Bluepoint’s Next Game

The newly discovered, albeitheavily pixelated imagesbear some similarities to Bluepoint’s artwork from the Insomniac leak, such as the Aztec-inspired armor and sledgehammer-like weapon in the character’s hand. However, the artwork also depicts a high-tech chamber of sorts, which could possibly hint at Bluepoint adapting sci-fi themes and crossing them over with themes from Aztec mythology for its next game. It must be noted that this is speculation and should be taken with a grain of salt, but it does at least seem certain that, contrary to prior rumors,Bluepoint is not working on aBloodborneremakeor sequel of any kind.

As for when fans can expect Bluepoint to reveal its elusive “original” project, one can only assume that since the game has been in development for at least three full years by this point, the studio may have something to show before the end of this year at apotential PlayStation Showcase. Bluepoint’s game could also debut at September’s Tokyo Game Show, since PlayStation is confirmed to attend the event as a general exhibitor.
