Summary
Scream 7will begin filming in December 2024, with Neve Campbell teasing what to expect from the upcoming sequel, in a string of interviews this week, while promoting other projects. Campbell confirmedScream 7will focus on Sidney Prescott, and revealed there might be some legacy characters returning alongside her, as well as a new crop of actors portraying Ghostface’s next victims. The sixth sequel needs to feature brand-new elements to keep the franchise fresh, andone of the most important things to focus on should be an original location for the Ghostface reveal in the finale.
The original location for the finale ofthe 1996 originalwas Stu’s house at 261 Turner Lane in the town of Woodsboro, and it was so iconic, it was used again inScream (2022). However,Scream 7needs to come up with a compelling location to rival the legendary farmhouse in the Woodsboro countryside.Kevin Williamson’s plansforScream 7look to be taking shape, despite the filming schedule being pushed back from September to December of this year.

The location ofScream 7’s finale needs to be somewhere that sets it apart from every other entry in the horror franchise.Fans are done with a house party as a location for Ghostface’s motive reveal, as this has been done many times before in the Scream franchise. When the subject of a Scream finale location comes up, it’s hard to see past the remote setting of Ghostface killer, Stu Macher’s house, situated in the middle of nowhere in the first movie.
The isolation the characters felt inScene 118 ofScreamadded to the creepy vibe of the movie.Scream 7needs to find a location that is reminiscent of the vibe at Stu’s house, while avoiding too many similarities with it.Rumors have circulated that remote locations were being scouted forScream 7, which raises the possibility that the finale will once again thrust Sidney Prescott into an isolated final battle with Ghostface.
YouTuberBeyond The Maskstated in one of his recent videos that the location ofScream 7’s finale had potentially been revealed by a leaker. Supposedly, the location of the finale could be the house of one of Sidney’s neighbor’s, who dislikes the iconic final girl.
The neighbor’s house being the location of the final, I’m a little bit unsure about this because I feel like this information kinda gives away some aspect of it, because if this neighbor hater is gonna host the finale, or the finale is gonna be at her house, does that mean that somehow she could be one of the killers?
There is no suggestion as to what kind of house Sidney’s neighbor lives in, but it is highly likely it could be a remote location, as this is where a lot ofScream 7’s scouting has been rumored to focus on. If it is true, the lead up to Sidney turning up at the house needs to be different to previous entries, to avoid copying the past.It also shouldn’t be a party, as Sidney has surely learned that a party during a Ghostface killing spree is not advised.
Where Did Each Scream Finale Take Place?
Scream- Stu’s House
Stu Macher famously hosted a party at his sprawling mansion while his parents were out of town in the originalScream. However, it turned out to be a ruse to get Sidney Prescott on her own, so he and Billy Loomis could carry out their murderous plan. The entire final act ofScreamwas filmed on location at the house, which is located in a sleepy small town called Tomales, 70 miles from San Francisco. It has become a tourist attraction for many Scream fans, with tours regularly taking place throughout the year.
Scream 2- The Theater At Windsor College Campus
Scream 2has the most theatrical finale in the franchise, quite literally, as it takes place in a theater at Sidney’s college campus, where she has been rehearsing for a performance ofCassandra.Ghostface dims the lights, and plays some tense music, as he arrives on the scene for the killer reveal. It was an interesting change from the first movie’s house party-based finale, with the core characters brought together in a clever way.
Scream 3- John Milton’s Hollywood Mansion
A house party was the setting once again inScream 3, asGhostface killer, Roman Bridger, rounded up the cast ofStab 3: Return To Woodsboro, to celebrate his birthday at John Milton’s (the head of Sunrise Studios) mansion in Hollywood. Dewey and Gale crash the party, and find themselves captured by Ghostface, before Sidney arrives on the scene to save the day. Interestingly, this location was also used for the finale ofHalloween H20.
Scream 4- Woodsboro Hospital
Scream 4teased another house party as the finale location, but the movie actually ended at Woodsboro hospital, where Jill was recovering from her self-inflicted injuries, after thinking she’d succeeded in killing Sidney. However, when Jill finds out Sidney is also recovering in the same hospital, she tracks her down, and attacks her, along with Dewey and Gale, when they turn up to rescue their old friend. Jill is shot dead by Sidney and the movie ends at this location.
Scream (2022)- Stu’s House…Again!
One of the Ghostface killers inScream (2022), Amber Freeman, lives at Stu Macher’s old house, and this is where the finale takes place, with Sidney and Gale turning up at a house party reminiscent of the one they attended back in 1996. However, this time around, the finale wasn’t shot on location at the original house. Paramount recreated the location on a sound stage on their lot, and it didn’t have the same creepy vibe as the original location. Having said that, it was still great to see Stu’s house again.
Scream 6- Ghostface’s Shrine
The Ghostface shrine inScream 6is arguably the best finale location since the original 1996 movie, as it boasts so many Easter Eggs for eagle-eyed fans of the franchise. Located in a run-down old movie theater, it essentially becomes a kill cage for the three Ghostface killers to exact their plan. There is everything from the television that killed Stu (if you believe he’s dead), to drawings of Dewey Riley, and a collection of Gale Weathers' true-crime books. It’ll be a hard one to top inScream 7, but it’s not an impossible feat to surpass it.
