Summary

Although each movie in the horror franchise has a fresh take onGhostface targeting people because of Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell),fans think thatScream 7should be more unique than the others. Given the interest in the upcoming sequel and the fact thatCampbell is back after not appearing inScream 6, it would be a shame if the movie felt like the same old slasher story.

Whilethere are many fan theories about theScreamfranchise, only a few of them actually make sense. Although there are many slasher tropes and moments in theScreammovies that don’t seem logical, fans can usually ignore them as long as the storytelling is good. However, theseScreamfan theories are surprising to hear about since they seem impossible, and if they were true, there would be no easy way to explain them inScream 7.

What Are Some Fun But Illogical Scream Fan Theories And What Would They Mean For Scream 7?

In aReddit threadaboutScreamfan theories that don’t make sense, one Redditor brought upa strange theory involving Sidney Prescott. They wrote:

“sidney was sam’s mom and didn’t know. i think sidney would have known if she gave birth between the events of scream 1 and 2.”

There are a few reasons why this wouldn’t make sense. For one thing, if Sidney realized this inScream 7, then she wouldn’t be able to act on this knowledge since Melissa Barrera isn’t in the horror sequel. For another, it would be impossible for Sidney not to realize that she had a baby, as this fan pointed out. Although some might think it’s cheesy for Sam to be Billy Loomis’s (Skeet Ulrich) daughter or wonder how that fits into the horror franchise’s timeline, that makes more sense than Sidney being her parent.

Redditor @Tea-and-crumpets- shareda fan theory about Ghostface having powers:

“The ghostface costume is supernatural and gives the wearer enhanced strength.”

This wouldn’t make sense, either, considering thatthe Ghostface killers are humans who don’t have any paranormal powers. Ghostface embodieseverything that makes an iconic slasher villainand while theScreammovies have cheesy scenes, they also have moments of realism. It would be strange to suddenly describe each Ghostface killer as being super strong thanks to the black and white mask and cape they put on. It’s also fair to argue that since Sidney has dealt with so many Ghostface killers, she would already know if they were supernatural.

Another Redditor mentioned the fan theory thatSidney could have played an evil role in the sixth movie in the slasher franchise. Even though fans have speculated for years that Sidney could be Ghostface at some point, this seems highly unlikely given her final girl history and place in the slasher franchise.Ghostface always has a motive tied to Sidney, and she is always a good, not an evil, character.

They wrote:

“Sidney was actually the mastermind of Scream 6.”

There are also somefan theories about Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard) circulating online. One is that Stu is still alive and another, as Redditor @Difficult_Maybe_18 pointed out, is that “Stu is actually the one that killed Dewey.“Lillard talked about returning toScream 7and said he doesn’t think it would happen. It seems impossible for Stu to have survived Sidney throwing a TV at him at the end ofScream.Since Stu passed away a long time ago, he wouldn’t have been able to shoot Dewey Riley (David Arquette), either. Even thoughDewey’s death shouldn’t have happened, Stu couldn’t have been the person to kill him.

What Scream 7 Fan Theories Make Sense?

There area few funScream 7fan theories that could be possible. One is thatGhostface is a serial killer this time around. Another is thatSidney’s kids could be Ghostface. Fans also wonder if Kirby Reed (Hayden Panettiere) could play a larger role in the horror sequel. Unlike some other story ideas that seem like they came out of nowhere, these seem much more grounded in reality.

While Neve Campbell hasn’t addressed anyScream 7fan theories, she did talk about the upcoming sequel in a July 2024 interview withIndieWire. She said:

“I’m very, very happy it’s happening. We were supposed to start in September, but we’re going to start in December now because of some scheduling stuff with Kevin and myself and having that all aligned. And actually, I think it’s a good thing, because we’re going to be able to have the time to get it really right. So I’m very excited about it.”
