In aNeowiz job postinglooking for a Field Level Designer, candidates are expected to have experience with RPGs and working with Unreal Engine, but most surprisingly, the listing mentions the candidate needing experience playing and making open-world games. Those who’ve playedLies of Pknow that the game is very much a linear-style experience, and though there are many secret passageways and looping shortcuts, the city of Krat is far from an open world.

Lies of P Sequel Could Feature Open World

It wouldn’t make much sense forLies of P’s sequel to feature an open world if it were still to take place in Krat. However, with Dorothy fromThe Wizard of Ozappearing afterLies of P’s credits, the Land of Oz could be a perfect setting for an open world with the various forests, villages, Emerald City, and, of course, the iconic Yellow Brick Road. Thus far, FromSoftware is the only studio tomaster the open-world Souls experience withElden Ring, so if Neowizwere to follow suit it would have massive shoes to fill, especially sinceLies of Pis being talked about as the best non-FromSoftware Souls game.

Next month will mark one year since the release ofLies of Pand fans are still clamoring for its DLC. While it doesn’t seem like it’ll hit by the end of this year, reports from earlier in the summer seem to suggest Neowiz is aiming for Q1 2025. Perhaps fans may be able to expect news either atTokyo Game Show next month, or at The Game Awards in December. As forLies of P’s sequel, it’ll likely be a few more years before Neowiz has more to officially reveal.
