Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeancebrings back all the quests from the original game for the players to relive, and one of them is the side quest called“A Wish For a Fish”that sees the player fighting an optional boss known as King Frost to acquire a fish for a demon.
This guide will help players tackle this boss by showing the best strategy for taking him down, as well as all his weaknesses and skills.
Unlocking the Quest A Wish For A Fish
“Bring fish from a cold-storage warehouse to Nekomata.”
The player in the gameplay will eventually arrive at a Leyline Fount known as the Container Yard Leyline Fount. Moving a bit ahead, they will fight a new boss unique to Vengeance, one of the Qaditsu, known as Eisheth.Defeating her will be no easy task, but, when the player does that, they will run into the demon that will give them the quest A Wish For A Fish. The demon in question is known as Nekomata and asks the player to look for a chilly warehouse to find fish for her.
Finding the Warehouse
The game recommends that the player be at least at level 26 before undergoing this mission, as the boss fight will not be all that easy.
When the player unlocks the side quest, a green exclamation point will appear on their map, indicating the location they should head to. The player has to take a step back to find it.
To reach the green exclamation point, the player needs to go inside the container. There, they will find a giant demon, this one is known as King Frost.
The player will have to speak to him and ask him if there are any fish around. Unfortunately, King Frost will take it as an attempt at theft, and a fight will ensue.

Before The Fight
Before the player jumps into the fight against King Frost, here are some things to keep in mind and bring along.
Best Demons to Bring Along
Yoko Hiromine is a guest character the player should have with them. She has no weakness to ice and can make use of fire attacks as well as dark attacks.
Best Affinities for the Nahobino
By default, the Nahobino has a weakness towards force and dark, but not to ice. The player can take it a step ahead and get the Nahobino an essence that he can use to change his affinities into one that is ideal here.
Note: The Nahobino can change affinities by unlocking the Divine Amalgamation miracle.
The Nahobino has a few options. The first one is the essence of Andras, giving him blockage of ice attacks, but weakness to electric and light. The Mermaid Essence is another one. Giving the Nahobino blockage to ice, but weakness to fire and electric.
Either way, the Nahobino simply wants to block Ice for this fight and the rest can be changed again later.
Best Items to Keep on Hand
For this fight, the main item that could make the challenge go smoother is an Ice Dampener. An Ice Dampener allows the player to block Ice attacks on all allies for one turn. King Frost mostly only uses Ice attacks so the player can’t go wrong with having a few on hand.
Defeating King Frost
As with any boss fight, it’s best for the player to enterthe battle with a Magatsuhi bar full. Unleashing critical hits on the enemy before he even gets a chance to attack is always a good strategy inShin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance.
King Frost’s first turn will start with a simple Bufu attack on one ally, before gathering Magatsuhi. If the player has characters without Ice blockage, this might be time to put up an ice dampener.
On his turn, King Frost will use Bufula, which could kill an ally if not protected by an Ice Dampener.
King frost will use Bufu once again on the next turn and gather Magatsuhi as well. Whenever he gathers Magatsuhi, the player should set up an Ice Dampener as his attacks will be critical.
Continuing in this pattern, the player should be able to take down King Frost without too much trouble.
Finish King Frost or Let Him Go?
After the fight, King Frost refuses to give up the fish that the player needs. This prompts the option of either finishing him off or letting him go.
All in all, the choice does not really matter. The player will get the fish either way, and unlock all the same rewards, so the choice can be either. The only difference is killing him makes him disappear, while sparing him lets him stay in his container.
Rewards For Defeating King Frost
Of course, as with any fight, the player will earn experience points upon defeating their enemies.
The player will also earn Macca from this fight, notably 1625 Macca, as well as two Chakra Drops.
When the player goes back to Nekomata, they have more rewards in store. Notably, the player will get more experience points, a whopping 6000 per character. They also receive a Beast Talisman. The Beast Talisman allows allies of the Beast race to use a Magatsuhi skill Omagtoki known as Adversity. It allows allies to dish out more damage and recover more HP for one turn the more HP they had lost.
More interestingly, the player can now unlock King Frost via Fusion.
