Summary

A talentedSkyrimplayer online has managed to complete the game while restricting themselves to only using Daedric artifacts.Skyrimcontinues to lend itself well to these types of restricted runs, with players wanting to see exactly what is possible in Bethesda’s classic RPG.

As a roleplaying game,Skyrimlends itself well to repeat playthroughs. However, for many gamers, simply making different decisions each time around isn’t quite enough. That’s how challenge runs originated - some players choose to impose restrictions on themselves purposefully to add a new level of difficulty to the game, especially when things have become too easy. Bethesda games have become extremely popular for this sort of thing, and it’s not just restricted toSkyrim- this same player who beat the game using Daedric artifacts alsobeatFallout 4using only a rolling pin.

Popular YouTuber Nerbit posted the run online, which involves them beating the game using onlyDeadric artifacts inSkyrim. Because some of the Daedric artifacts have healing properties, Nerbit even restricted themselves from healing without it - this means no potions or healing spells, making the game much harder to complete. These artifacts are mostly locked behind level-restricted quests, so the run involves plenty of grinding for levels. It begins with Nerbit grabbing the Wabbajack, one of the most unique artifacts inSkyrim, and using that to grab the Mace of Molag Bal. From that point, the grind begins, but they do eventually manage to work their way to the game’s final fight with Alduin.

Skyrim Daedric Artifacts Challenge Run

Nerbit is certainly no stranger to challenge runs. The majority of the content on their channel is centered around Bethesda game challenge runs, attempting to beat them with a ton of interesting self-restrictions. Sometimes, these are purely lore-friendly restrictions, and other times, they’re roleplay attempts. For example, last year,Nerbit beatSkyrimwhile roleplaying as a Sith Lord, making decisions that would make sense on a particularly evil run of the game. While Nerbit didn’t confirm what the plan is for their next challenge run, they did mention that completingOblivionusing only Daedric artifacts is certainly on the cards in the future.

While it’s great that gamers continue to come up with new ways to beatSkyrimalmost 13 years since its original release, there is no doubt an appetite for Bethesda to finally release a sequel. The Elder Scrolls 6was first announced back in 2018 with a teaser trailer, but the studio has remained quiet on the subject ever since. It remains one of the topupcoming RPGs that gamers are excited for, and the community as a whole has shown great patience while the developer works on bringing it to life. Bethesda certainly won’t be rushed, but hopefully, it’s able to speak a little more about the game in the near future after the release ofStarfield.
