Soulframeisa free-to-play MMORPGset to release in late 2024. The game will take a different step fromWarframe’s fast-paced action and promises a slower combat style focused on dodging, parrying, and a variety of combat mechanics and spells.Soulframewill take players into a fantasy world influenced by themes of nature, restoration, and exploration, where they will assume the role of an Envoy in a world disrupted by the corrupt group known as the Ode. The game will feature procedural dungeons, environmental interactions, and different abilities. Currently,Soulframeis in an invite-only closed alpha calledSoulframePreludes.
Among theSoulframerevelations during the recent TennoCon 2024, developer Digital Extremes introduced Warsongs Prologue, the first narrative thread ofSoulframe, which offers a glimpse into the world, characters, and creatures players will encounter. InpreviousSoulframerevelations, it was disclosed that players will take on the role of “envoys” in the game. Now this prologue sets the stage for the game’s story, where players will work to heal the Ode curse and restore forgotten culture and memories to the beings of Alca. Moreover, the demo showcased an interesting approach to choices and character design.
Soulframe’s Recently Revealed New Ancestor, Omen Beast, and Enemy
Verminia, the Rat Witch, was also revealed. This new Ancestor character will help players with customization options, allowing them to enhance their cosmetics and craft various potions, elixirs, and tinctures.Character customization is a valued feature in MMORPGs, and Verminia will likely provide interesting gameplay opportunities and interactions. Additionally, players will face a new challenge with Bromius, a massive armored bear introduced as an omen beast.
Another exciting revelation was Nimrod, a towering enemy capable of manipulating thunder and lightning, armed with a tesla-coiled melee staff. The developer hinted that Nimrod could be a recurrent encounter players will have to face many times.
SinceSoulframe’s initial announcement, its development has been heavily influenced by community feedback.
