STALKER 2 May Have Timed Its New Release Date Poorly
STALKERis a respected classic, having laid the groundwork for much of the vision of an eerie, anomaly-ridden Zone that has been depicted in many games featuring it. The prospect of another entry was therefore enticing to many. Originally announced in 2010, the studio subsequently went through a string of difficulties and unforeseen troubles that derailedSTALKER 2multiple times, though it was stated to be in development throughout.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine, where the studio was based, forced the biggest upheaval and understandable halting of development. Once GSC relocated to Prague,STALKER 2was tentatively back on track. However, there was a brief backlash after anNFT-related planin 2021. This was shortly retracted but had lost it some steam and goodwill. Development still continued, and after further schedule shuffling, a September 5 date was given earlier this year, which held firm until the most recent push.
