Twitter user bhollywood13 recently pointed this out to ConcernedApe, asking why the developer releasedStardew ValleyUpdate 1.6 on PC before bringing it to consoles and mobile platforms.ConcernedApe responded, explaining that updates come to PC first so that bugs can be fixed quickly with patches, which is not possible on consoles. “So it’s ideal to have all major issues resolved before submitting to consoles,” ConcernedApe explained, stating that otherwise there’s a risk that players may run into game-breaking or save-corrupting bugs that could take a week to be fixed, as opposed to on PC where the issues could be resolved in mere hours. ConcernedApe added that he did not expect to take this long with the non-PC versions of Update 1.6, but apparently ran into “technical issues” with the porting process. His original hope was to have the update out one month “max” from when the PC version dropped (so April 2024), but that hasn’t been possible. “At any rate, I feel bad about it,” he said.
