Stardew Valleyfan XAE_Warthog shared a brief video of them demonstrating this ability at Marnie’s ranch. At Marnie’s, a small enclosure houses cows and grass for them to feed on. There’s no way to access this area without cheating, but that doesn’t mean that it can’t be affected. XAE_Warthog uses theirScytheto clear away a couple of patches of grass in the enclosure, as their scythe is just able to reach them despite standing on the other side of the fence. A brief cut later, and XAE_Warthog shows that theirStardew Valleysilonow contains hay, albeit just a couple of pieces.

The Problem With Hay in Stardew Valley

Running out of hay inStardew Valleycan be a frustrating experience, but it seems many players didn’t know this was an option. To be fair, a couple pieces of hay isn’t likely to suffice for most players.Stardew Valleyfarmers that raise animalsmay have any number of pigs, chickens, ducks, and other animals on their farm that all need a piece of hay to eat for the day. However, in dire circumstances, it’s possible that those two hay could keep a player afloat until they’re able to purchase more or acquire it somewhere else by cutting down grass.

With that said, it’s difficult to talk about Marnie and hay shortages for the average player without frustration coming into the picture. Outside of cutting down grass or receiving it through rare other means,Marnieis the main source of hay in the game, but doesn’t always keep her shop open. Depending on her schedule, Marnie may leave to do an aerobics class, or simply stray from her position at the front to stare at her microwave for a while. Considering that someStardew Valleyplayers find themselves in dire need of haywith no way to purchase it from her, there may be some who are more than happy to swipe a couple bales from her cows.
