Summary

AStardew Valleyplayer has shared an embarassing moment that they experienced while building a fence on their farm. While the player says they feel foolish about it, it’s a good teaching moment for fans ofStardew Valleyto be aware of what they have available to them when building fences.

Stardew Valleyplayers are allowed to decorate their farms as they see fit. Fans can buildperfectStardew Valleyfarmswith every single corner set up just as they like it, or they can stick to minimalistic and functional decorations and barriers. In either case, though, this could be a mistake waiting to happen to anyone.

Stardew Valleyfan witherwingg shared their embarrassment at getting stuck inside their own fence on their farm. A screenshot shows the player’s farmer standing in the middle of a fenced-in area, still holding an additionalWood Fencepost over their head. The player had previously given their axe away toClinttoupgrade theStardew Valleytool, which requires leaving it behind for a couple days while it’s worked on. Without thinking about it, they started building a fence and enclosed it, forgetting that they had no way to break down the fence and escape once they were inside. The only option for them at that point was to give up and wait for their farmer to pass out, or restart the day entirely.

Bypassing Getting Trapped Within a Stardew Valley Fence

Fellow players were sympathetic to the fan’s plight. Some were quick to point out that there is a potential solution to this problem for anyone who finds themselves in a similar circumstance. If a player has a gate in their inventory or can craft one, they can set down the gate where the fence already is and it will replace the nearby fence posts with the gate, giving them an escape route. However, this particular fan says they had noWoodin their inventory, so this wasn’t an option for them either.

Thankfully, the game’s daily saves and its exhaustion system help to prevent mistakes from having more serious outcomes. While there is a negative impact the following day if the farmer is awake past 2 am and doesn’t make it to bed, it’s a relatively minor thing and can be compensated for with food orresting during the day in theStardew Valleyspa or bedin single-player and multiplayer modes, respectively. Even so, it’s easy to understand why the player felt foolish in that moment.

For what it’s worth, witherwingg is far from the first fan to have anembarrassing moment inStardew Valley. Mistakes can happen to anyone, after all, but hopefully witherwingg’s experience will help to keep fellow fans from finding themselves trapped the same way.
