Summary

Bethesda kicked off QuakeCon 2024 by announcing thatStarfieldwill be receiving a freeDoom-inspired quest featuring special rewards. There’s currently no release date for the upcomingStarfieldquest, but it will be available via the RPG’s Creation Kit.

The Creation Kit has been a staple of Bethesda for many of the studio’s games, includingThe Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Fallout 4,and, most recently,Starfield. It allows users to easily download and install mods for some of their favorite games, no matter the platform that they play on, while also allowing modders to earn money for their creations. But the launch ofStarfield’s Creation Kit proved to be rather controversialafter fans discovered how expensive some of the mods were. Certain members of the community also believed it set a “dangerous precedent” by locking official Bethesda questlines behind a paywall.

Even though its first DLC hasn’t even been released yet, rumors continue to swirl on apossible secondStarfieldDLC. But as fans patiently wait for new content from Bethesda, the studio has confirmed that new fan-made quests are on the way. As part of QuakeCon 2024, it was announced that a new mini-quest inspired byDoomwould be hittingStarfieldin the future. A short teaser trailer showed off some of the quest’s action, before confirming that it would be available viaStarfieldCreations at a currently unknown date.

Starfield Fans React to Epic New Doom Quest

The upcoming quest will be known as “At Hell’s Gate” and will be developed by Kinggath Creations, a popular modding group who are well-known in the Bethesda community for creatingFallout 4’s Sim Settlements mod series. The team has released multiple mods for the likes ofThe Elder Scrolls V: SkyrimandFallout 4, but now look set to delve intoStarfieldwith their very ownDoom-inspired questline, and fans can’t wait.

There are a plethora ofStarfieldmods that improve the overall experience, but very few add new questlines that crossover with other massive Bethesda games. That’s why many in the community are excited to see such a renowned modding team take on the task of crossingStarfieldover withDoom. Over on Reddit, user Snagglesnatch even said that while they’re “not a bigDoomguy” they are a huge fan of Kinggath’s work, which is more than enough reason to pick up the new mod. Another Reddit user, known as RedComet313, said that Kinggath is one of the few mod creators that they will support as their mods “aren’t a complete rip-off.”

Bethesda is currently gearing up to releaseStarfield’s Shattered Space DLC, which is targeting a Fall 2024 launch window. But for fans who aren’t fond of downloading new quests via mods, Bethesda’s very own Todd Howard recently confirmed thatStarfieldhas even more post-launch content on the way. With a second year of DLC plans already in the works, the future ofStarfieldis looking bright.
