Summary
Considering how strong every season ofStranger Thingsis, it’s hard to argue that any episode is dull. The beloved characters, various creatures, and setting of Hawkins, Indiana all add up to one fantastic series. But while most episodes of theNetflixseries are exciting, fun, and surprising, there is one season 2 storyline that viewers didn’t enjoy. Although it involved a major and fan-favorite character, the episode wasn’t well-received for a variety of reasons.
WhenStranger Thingsseason 5 premieres, it should havea meaningful plotline for one popular character, but someone from season 2 should also come back. This would allow the show to finish the story that was started several seasons ago and also provide closure for one major character.
What Stranger Things Season 2 Episode Should Stranger Things Season 5 Address?
One of the most memorable episodes of the hit Netflix series isStranger Thingsseason 2, episode 7, “The Lost Sister,” where Eleven meets up with Kali Prasad/008 (Linnea Berthelsen). It’s also one of the most unpopular becausefans didn’t like seeing the main characters split upor Eleven leaving Hawkins. Whilefans hope for more creatures inStranger Thingsseason 5, they also think that the main characters should have a lot of scenes together.
However, if Kali appears inStranger Thingsseason 5 and the storyline is more compelling and entertaining than the season 2 plotline, then viewers might feel more positive.Kali and the other psychic kids could fight Vecna, which would be helpful since it’s going to take a lot of powerful characters to kill this villain. This would also be a good idea since Eleven has lost the use of her powers at various times throughout the series. WhileEleven was able to help Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink),there’s no guarantee that she won’t find herself in trouble once again. Being able to lean on these other characters would give her more confidence.
It would also be important for the psychic kids to appear inStranger Thingsseason 5 because it will pay off the season 2 episode and make it feel more meaningful. Instead of feeling like a random episode that derailed the main plot and didn’t add anything interesting, fans can see “The Lost Sister” as providing some backstory. Since many fans would always be able to see more scenes with Eleven, it wouldn’t be a bad thing to watch her and Kali once again.
It also seems likely thatStranger Thingsseason 5 could address this part of season 2 sincethe Duffer Brothers have talked about incorporating some elements from that season. According toDigital Spy, Ross Duffer explained at WGFestival in 2022:
“For season 5, we’re pulling from a lot of those big season 2 ideas… A lot of our big ending stuff has pulled from stuff that we thought was going to be in season 2.”
While it’s unclear what parts of the second season could end up in season 5, it would be cool to see where Kali is now. Since she and Eleven connected so much, it would be odd if they didn’t keep in touch. Sincethe new season should be packed with action, part of Eleven’s storyline could involve her evolving relationship with Kali.
Do Fans Want To See One Particular Season 2 Character In Stranger Things Season 5?
There are somecharacters whom fans want to see again on the Netflix series, but not everyone thinks that Kali/008 should be one of them. Several viewers disliked theStranger Thingsseason 2 episode “The Lost Sister” so much that they don’t think she should return. One Redditorwrote:
“I hope not, easily the weakest episode in the series.”
However, some fans think it would make sense for Kali to be there for Eleven since they have a strong history. Since there are so manyquestions still about Eleven and the Upside Downand what it was like for her growing up, this makes sense. Eleven doesn’t have many people from her past who she would find trustworthy, and it took her a while to open up to the people she met in Hawkins. Watching Kali and Eleven again would make a lot of sense. Redditor @Ralib1 wrote:
“There’s no way Kali sees the news report about Hawkins and doesn’t attempt to come to help El. The last we saw her she seems to still care about her maybe this will be a redeeming arc for her using her powers to help.”
