Summary
Once Humanhas some excellent gunplay, combined with aLovecraftian horror theme, and some solid survival game mechanics. Following an episodic release approach, with new content being unlocked in each phase of a 6-week season, this free-to-play game has a lot to offer.
Light machine guns,orLMGs,are something of a red-headed stepchild inOnce Human,dealing great damage, but with terrible accuracy, and carrying the further downside of taking forever to reload. For this reason, many players eschew them in favor of other weapons, such as assault rifles. However, with the right build, an LMG can be a formidable weapon to use in thissurvival game.
TheMG4 Light Machine Gunis available to every player, evenbeginners inOnce Human. It is unlocked through one of thememetics a player is prompted to unlockas part of the short crafting tutorial. That being said, it generally isn’t worth crafting this weapon unless a player really wants to use an LMG in the early game.
Most new players stick to a melee weapon for the first 10 to 15 levels inOnce Human,and skip ranged weapons entirely in this stage of the game. However, the MG4 Light Machine Gun does have its place in boss fights in the early game, so it’s not entirely wasted.
Most players will unlock the blueprint for theKVD - Icebreaker LMGalmost by accident, as the blueprint fragments are quite common in the early-game stage. This isn’t a terrible light machine gun per se, but it would have been better with the shrapnel special ability.
Frost vortex on an early game weapon isn’t ideal, as it can take some time to first work out how frost vortex works, and secondly, perfect triggering the frost vortex at the right time. Overall, this is a decent enough weapon up until the mid-game, but it’s not ideal.
TheMG4 - Wrath Of Hadeslight machine gun is actually pretty good in certain situations. Based on the fast gunner combat mechanic, it overcomes the main downside of using an LMG in the first place, namely: the terribly slow reload speed.
However, it’s unlikely that fast gunner will keep the weapon fully reloaded at all times, and the player may still find they need to switch to their secondary finish off enemies. This is the general combat mechanic that LMG users often rely on inOnce Human, and they often carry a suitablyhigh-damage pistolfor this purpose.
Many players struggle to understand the bounce mechanic inOnce Human. However, once it is understood that the word “bounce” is merely a poor translation of the Chinese word for ricochet, it becomes much clearer.
TheMG4 - Mr Squidlight machine gun is capable of dishing out serious damage, and is especially useful for fighting endgame Rosetta enemies. However, its blueprint is looted from the Blackheart region, which means it is not available until after it would have been useful, unfortunately. Even so, it has a place in the endgame boss fights in season 4 of the game.
TheMG4 - Predatorlight machine gun is a real buzzsaw of a weapon. It can deal insane levels of damage due to the advanced version of fast gunner special it is built around. Smart players inOnce Humanwill load up their armor with mods that increase the magazine capacity of this weapon.
A good fast gunner build offers arguably the highest DPS output in the game, and the MG4 - Predator is perfect for a high-damage build, especially when combined with a synergistic secondary weapon.
KVD - Boom! Boom!is an exceptionally entertaining weapon to wield. As a light machine gun, it has the potential to set foes ablaze with each shot. Should an enemy perish while on fire, an area-of-effect (AoE) explosion is unleashed, causing widespread havoc during prolonged battles with numerous adversaries.
The primary drawback of the KVD - Boom! Boom! is its sluggish reload time. Therefore, most players would be wise to have a reliable secondary weapon on hand to dispatch enemies when the LMG’s magazine is depleted. Nevertheless, obtaining the blueprint for this weapon can transform it into a versatile and effective tool in any combat situation.
