The Boyshas done a very good job keeping some of its cards hidden away across seasons. While some of the twists are blindingly obvious, other big reveals come with a fair amount of shock. The show can be a bit repetitive, but each new development has pushed the plot into increasingly dark places. As the show wraps up its penultimate season, the titular gang of anti-heroes faces the worst imaginable scenario. One of the wild cards in the mix is an enigmatic supe named Cindy.

The next season ofThe Boyswill be the last. While the show meanders at times, the creator deserves some positive attention for choosing to bring things to a satisfying conclusion. Eric Kripke’s previous show,Supernatural, ran for 15 years and massively overstayed its welcome. The Boyshas a lot of loose ends to tie up and an undoubtedly grim ending to get to, so the show’s overall quality might rest entirely on the success or failure of season five.

Who is Cindy inThe Boys?

Cindy first appeared in season two, episode six, “The Bloody Doors Off.” She’s a resident of the sinister Sage Grove Center. Sage Grove is a Vought International facility that conducts experiments on innocent civilians. The scientists and orderlies expose their victims to a variety of chemical treatments. Their end goal is to perfect Compound V, the material that grants supes their powers. Vought needed to stabilize Compound V, guaranteeing its positive effects while doing away with any nasty downsides. Sage Grove maintains a convincing front operation as a psychiatric hospital. Cindy presumably exhibited some sort of instability that landed her in Sage Grove. While there, the orderlies exposed her to Compound V. Mostsuccessful users of Compound Vgot their dose when they were young. Cindy is one of several success stories at Sage Grove, which made considerable strides in developing Compound V. Cindy developed telekinesis on an impressive scale.

The show finds Cindy in her cell at Sage Grove. The Boys invade the grounds and find Lamplighter, a former supe who became an orderly after retirement. Lamplighter primarily uses his pyrokinetic powers to incinerate victims who dare oppose their handlers. Frenchie, Mother’s Milk, and Kimiko enter a confrontation with Lamplighter, who accidentally burns down Cindy’s cell door. She steps out, immediately striking fear into Lamplighter’s heart. Cindy quickly unleashes all of her fellow patients, causing a frantic mess in Sage Grove. The Boys work with Lamplighter to escape. They only get away when Stormfront arrives and knocks Cindy unconscious with an electric shock. Cindy later escapes the hospital and tries hitchhiking. AlaterSeven on 7segmentexplains that Cindy is wanted as a suspect in several violent crimes. Cindy finally returns in the fourth season. Vought got to her off-screen, recruiting her into their army. She tosses a ship at Hughie and Annie, stopping them as they drive away. She captures Hughie, but Annie escapes by flying away.

What could Cindy do inThe Boysseason five?

The episode that brings Cindy back alsoshowsThe Boysin its worst-case scenario. Almost every member of the titular team winds up in the hands of Vought agents. The company has almost all the world’s most powerful supes on its payroll, and the new president is happy to be Homelander’s puppet. Cindy will likely be one of several secondary antagonists in the final season. The show doesn’t offer her much of a personality, but a deeper dive into her life wouldn’t go amiss. She has a lot of reasons for beingunhappy with the company shenow serves. She may remain a quiet executioner for the villainous team, but she may also become a more nuanced figure in the upcoming war.

Who plays Cindy inThe Boys?

Cindy is a minor character in the grand story ofThe Boys, but she has the potential to be much bigger. She’s a relatively rare case in the show. Most of the named figures fromAmazon Prime’s adaptation have somebasis in the comics, but Cindy appears to be entirely new. Many believe that she’s a satirical take on Eleven fromStranger Things, but she certainly isn’t anyone from Garth Ennis’s comic. Instead, she’s a terrifying new figure that seems to resist any attempt to reason with her. While she could be one of the biggest threats inThe Boysseason five, she might also have more in common with the Boys than with Vought.
