However, player feedback on the Season 1 release schedule wasn’t quite as positive as Nexon had hoped. After revealing the staggered release of content across three separate updates, fans immediately called out against the time-gated nature of certain pieces of content, such as the launch of the ultimate form for thepoison-based Descendant Freyna. Hours after the initial announcement,Nexon revealed that Season 1 has been readjustedto only be 2 updates, keeping the original start date of August 29 but moving the final update up to October 10. Nexon explained that while the original plan was to keep feeding content into the game on a monthly basis, but seeing the feedback, believed it needed to make a change to meet fan expectations both with season 1 and with future seasons.

The First Descendant Season 1 Release Schedule

The first update is largely the same as it was duringThe First Descendant’s initial Season 1 announcement, launching on August 29 with a new dungeon, the arrival of Hailey Scott as the newest sniper Descendant, a new battle pass, and more. The big change comes after that, however, as Updates 2 and 3 have been merged into one with a new launch date of October 10. This major update includes things like ultimate weapons, hard-mode Infiltrations, a new Void Intercept Battle, and the arrival of Ultimate Freyna and her Descendant exclusive story.

As of now, it’s unclear how this schedule change may impact the following seasons. It’s likely that Nexon is ensuring less staggered updates for each season, which means players should get more content sooner when Season 2 eventually launches. According toThe FIrst Descendant’s 2024 seasonal roadmap, Season 2 is planned for launch in December, adding a new “Mega Dungeon” alongside a utility companion in addition to the normal inclusion of new characters, weapons, and intercept battles.
