The Garden Pathis an indie game that focuses on slice-of-life kind of interactions and fetch quests. In order to grow your garden and connect with your new neighbors, you’ll have to collect a bunch of objects, find landmarks, interact with the people of your new home, and more.
One of the many things you might come across while navigating throughthe garden paths in this farming simis an Old Man Statue with a collection of stone cubes. You might be wondering what is inside them, and you will want to know what you have to do first to get inside of them.
Where to Find the Old Gardener Statue in The Garden Path
The Old Gardener statue is located to the west of the Community Centre. Look for it at the red pin in the Northern Gardens location indicated by the map below. It’s a good idea to use a pin on the map so you can easily find it again later.
How to Get the Encyclopedia in the Garden Path
There are several steps you need to complete in order to get the Encyclopedia from the mysterious rocks right next to the Old Gardener statue. The first thing you need to do is meet up with Thom, a traveling NPC that wanders around the map. He sellsGarden Pathseedsand has a variety of quests for you to complete.
Bring him the mysterious letter that you start the game with, and he will tell you to return to the Old Gardener statue. Interact with the statue, and you will get the other half of the note. After giving the completed note to Thom, he will ask you to collect 10 more pages. Pages can be found by knocking on trees; you can either walk up to each tree to see if you can knock on it, or you can look carefully for a faint star to appear on the trunk of the tree to see which ones are interactable in thiscozy indie game.
Also, if you have a shovel, which you’re able to purchase fromAugustus inThe Garden Path, you can dig up marked circles of white on the ground. There are pages in these sometimes as well. If you have already gathered some pages from trees or by digging, thesewill not count toward the 10. You need to collect them after taking the completed note to Thom.
Once you have gathered 10 more pages, return to Thom, and he will ask you to plant a Memory Seed. You should have both the achievement for the New Gardener and the Old Gardener in the star map now. Press the X buttoninside the star menu to get to the list format of the stars, then scroll to the top. At the top of the list should be both the New Gardener and the Old Gardener stars; connect the two of them with E to make a constellation called The Root.
Interact with the stones next to the Old Gardener statue, and select “Place a Guide Stone.” Guide Stones are made by combining two Guide Stone Fragments together, and you should have plenty of these by now; you earn them by doing something new, like interacting with a new character, fishing for the first time,releasing a fish’s song, etc. Use one of these Guide Stones on the first one, and you will gain the Encyclopedia.
