5U.S.J. Arc

All Might Shows What Being A Hero Is All About

A lot of the best arcs inMy Hero Academiastart rather innocently, and Class 1-A’s trip to the Unforeseen Simulation Joint is a great example of the same. What was meant to be a simple training exercise turned intoan ambush by the League of Villains, forcing everyone to step up and battle these villains as Shigaraki and his gang decided to unleash a powerful Nomu on the heroes.

This prompted the debut of All Might, who found himself pushed to the very limit by a Nomu that boasted immense strength. Despite the power of One for All slowly fading, the hero decided to pull out all the stops and push past his limits, forcing the Nomu’s Shock Absorption Quirk to reach a limit of its own, as it was unable to deal with the hero’s relentless assault. The music crescendoes as the Nomu is defeated and the League of Villains retreat, leading to an amazing arc at the beginning of this series that fans can watch numerous times without getting bored.

4U.A. Sports Festival Arc

Shoto Accepts His Past In One Of The Series' Most Hype Moments

Midoriya’s unique use of the One for All Quirk helped him use his powers without destroying his entire body, but the one-on-one fights in the tournament section of U.A.’s Sports Festival forced him to whip out his powers against Todoroki. The powerful hero relied only on his Ice Quirk, refusing to acknowledge the atrocities of this father. However, Midoriya wanted his friend to use the full extent of his powers for his own sake, willing him on with his strong words to force out Todoroki’s latent power.

What followed was one of the best clashes in the entire series. It turned “You Say Run” into one of the most iconic anime soundtracks around, withTodoroki finally revealing his control over his flamesas he unleashed the full might of his powers. Midoriya had a response ready with the 100% output of One for All, resulting in a blast that Cementoss and Midnight had to nullify so that the collateral damage to the arena and its spectators could be kept to a minimum. It’s an incredible moment and one of the most rewatchable scenes in an all-around enjoyable arc.

However, his dogged nature forced him to never give up at such a critical moment, using a feint to catch All for One off-guard after he was unable to maintain his power. Byrerouting the last vestiges of One for All into a single punch, he managed to knock out the powerful villain with the United States of Smash, taking him out with his last act as a hero before retiring and passing the torch over to Midoriya.
