Many of these releases introduce new features and gameplay options, but they don’t always mesh with the long list ofSims 4modsthat have come out during the same time.
It seems something along that line may have happened to tomokas, who shared theirSims 4experience with the community on Reddit. The player shared a before and after image of theirteen Sim, who they had directed to go tanning. When they laid down to start tanning, they had long brown hair, rosy freckled skin, and were wearing purple shorts and a white tank top. However, when the Sim completed the tanning process, they had been transformed, now having dark facial hair, blonde hair, tattoos, numerous accessories, and their outfit had changed colors and length.
Why This Sims 4 Tanning Experience Went Awry
As one would expect, the Sims community has been quite amused by the glitch, with many making comparisons toPirates of the Caribbean’sCaptain Jack Sparrow. However, the community is also being quite helpful, offering potential solutions and reasoning for the odd moment. One player suggested that the Sim needed to engage in an activity that would make them automatically change outfits, like exercising or going to work. Manually changing their outfit reportedly doesn’t fix this issue, but something about the automatic process resets it.
Other players pointed out that this glitch can happen when users haveSims 4custom content (CC) installed. While the exact trigger isn’t clear, players report that when using CC, tanning can sometimes cause their Sims to “steal” the appearance of nearby Sims. As it turns out, when the Sim started tanning,Vladislaus Straudwas on the lot, and it seems they took some of the textures normally assigned to Vladislaus. Numerous players in the thread said that they don’t like using the tanning option with CC, as it can lead to problems like this and with the UI.
Tanning has been around inThe Sims 4for nearly half as long as the game has been out, and it sounds like this glitch has existed for a while. As such, the best thing a player can do if they find themselves in this situation is to try and get their Sim to change their outfit, as a bug fix seems unlikely.
