During itsearnings callearlier today, CDPR revealed the progress it has made on certain ongoing projects, giving updates about its much-anticipated Polaris and Orion projects. Joint CEO Michal Nowakowski announced that Polaris, the nextWitchergame, is close to a “major milestone” that marks the completion of its pre-production stage. Additionally, he stated that the devs are getting ready to start “full-fledged production” on theWitcherproject that is set to be the first entry in a new saga. Moreover, CDPR highlighted that work on Orion, thenewCyberpunktitle, has also advanced at its newly founded Boston studio over the past six months. A combined team of longtime CDPR employees and new hires is working on “laying the groundwork” for Orion, according to CFO Piotr Nielubowicz.
CDPR Shifts Focus to The Witcher and Cyberpunk Sequels
On Twitter, CDPR also shared an infographic showing the slight increase in its total team size, from 630 developers to 639 developers, between April 30 and July 31 this year. This ramping up has resulted in some more people joining the work being done on Polaris and Orion. The team size for the newWitchergame has gone up from 407 to 410, whereas the number of people working onCyberpunk 2077’s sequel is now 60 instead of 56. Interestingly, Sirius, which is the codename for aWitcherspinoff project, has also seen its development team strength go from 39 to 42 during the same period.
