Summary
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlandswas an even wilder take onBorderlands' formula, but a sequel should be sure to include one of its parent series' most famous features. A newTiny Tina’s Wonderlandsgame would be able to do plenty of things that the first game didn’t. Now that the spin-off’s formula has been experimented with, the possibilities can be pushed even further. This includes incorporating more aspects of the mainBorderlandsseries into the game, so long as they can fit into the fantasy theme. Of course, that includes one aspect thatBorderlandsitself would never be able to ignore.
One of the moreunique additions to theBorderlandsseries,Tiny Tina’s Wonderlandsis a spin-off hosted by the titular character. The title takes place in a game of Bunkers & Badasses, an in-universeDungeons & Dragonsparody. As a result, the entire game is essentially a fantasy-themed re-skin ofBorderlands, with players fighting against skeletons and monsters rather than the series' usual slate of baddies. In addition, the game also has a few notable changes to the formula in the form of melee weapons and spells. While still identifiable as aBorderlandsgame,Tiny Tina’s Wonderlandssuccessfully established its own identity.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2 Could Incorporate Borderlands' Signature Vaults
Borderlands' Vaults Are Iconic to the Series
One of the most inescapable aspects of the series isBorderlands' mysterious, legendary vaults. The fact that the protagonists of each main game are known as Vault Hunters is a prime example of why. The Vault in the first game was heavily mythologized, with rumors about about what kind of treasure could lie within, only for it to be a prison for a massive monster with catastrophic power. Even after this incident, there were still more vaults to discover and open, with their own surprises inside. However, despite their prominence inBorderlands,Tiny Tina’s Wonderlandsdidn’t have a vault of its own.
Vaults Could Be an Easy Addition to Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2
Adding at least one Vault to find could be a way to helpelevateTiny Tina’s Wonderlands' sequel. In fact, since Tina herself knows of the vaults, it would make perfect sense for her to include them in her next adventure. After all, incorporating real-world elements or experiences in a campaign is something that GMs do in tabletop RPGs in real life. Not to mention, there were several characters in the first game that were clearly based on and played byBorderlandscharacters. If Gearbox wants to include vaults inTiny Tina’s Wonderlands2, then it has the perfect excuse to do so.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2 Could Get WIldly Creative With Vaults
Adding vaults to the game could also be a prime opportunity for the developers to addmore fantasy elements toTiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2. A vault would be a perfect way to incorporate a massive dungeon or treasure haul into the game. After all, even if the first vault opened in the series contained The Destroyer, that doesn’t have to be the case inTiny Tina’s Wonderlands, where she controls the story and can make the vaults into whatever she wants them to be. As a result, any vaults inTiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2could be made into exciting setpieces.
If Gearbox wants to include vaults in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2, then it has the perfect excuse to do so.
A sequel toTiny Tina’s Wonderlandscould have a lot to gain by bringing vaults into the game. Not only would skipping vaults again be amissed opportunity forTiny Tina’s Wonderlands, but a vault presents an excellent area for growth. While the firstTiny Tina’s Wonderlandswas a creative and entertaining game, its sequel will need to raise the bar. One of the best ways to do that would be by introducing a vault of its own. Vaults are iconic toBorderlands, so they should be impactful inTiny Tina’s Wonderlandstoo.
