Among them are specially selected people who hold a position of immense power and influence—a group of women known as Zahard’s Princesses. They play a pivotal role in the overarching story and politics within the Tower. As such, they are revered and are even worshipped sometimes by the inhabitants of the Tower.
How Zahard Princesses Came To Be
The Origin Story
Among the various women in the Tower, a select few are chosen to serve its ruler, Zahard, and in turn receive his power. They serve to protect his authority in his absence and are recognized as some of the most influential people in the Tower. As a result, it is one of the most sought-after achievements, with many women improving themselves in hopes that they too will becalled upon to become a princess.
Po Bidau Gustang, the leader of the Gustang family, came up with the idea of injecting Zahard’s “blood” (which is not actually blood) into women, as he could not procreate due to the Power of Blood. Those who received his “blood” would climb the Tower and compete against one another, and whoever emerged victorious would have the honor of being Zahard’s bride. There have been twenty-eight Princesses in total, with HaYuri Zahard being the most prominentone, both in terms of the story and in relation to the protagonist, Baam. Several of them have gone missing over the years, and that might be, in part, due to the overprotective rules that govern the lives of Princesses.
The Power And Burden That Comes With Being A Zahard Princess
A Title Signifying A Lot
Princesses candidates are usuallyselected from the Ten Great Familiesor any other family, but once they gain the status of a princess, they immediately become a part of Zahard’s family and are referred to as his adopted daughters. Princesses from normal families are targeted by a lot of people, and a lot of them are murdered behind the scenes to prevent the rise of a new power. Several standards must be met before a woman can be selected to become a Princess of Zahard, ranging from their potential, strength, and loyalty to the king, but her compatibility with his “blood” is of utmost importance.
His “blood” grants them an increase in strength and speed that puts them above most characters in the series, but in turn, they are forbidden from having any romantic affairs and procreating, to prevent Zahard’s power from being transferred to any potential offspring. Anak Zahard dared to break this rule before her death and doomed her daughter of the same name to a terrible fate. For this reason, the Lo Po Bia Family and RED resent Anak Zahard and make her execution one of their top priorities. Princesses are also forbidden from helping an enemy of Zahard’s Empire andentering the Floor of Death. The first generation of Princesses were manipulated by Zahard into killing each other for reasons known only to himself, but according to the legends that were passed down, they were corrupted by the evil magic of the 13 Month Series weapons.
Those Who Rise Above The Rest Are Chosen To Attain New Heights
The Chosen Ones
Princesses who ascendthe Tower and become Rankersare allowed to receive a gift that places them above every other princess. Chosen Princesses can receive a weapon in the 13-Month Series, bestowed upon them by Zahard, and in turn are bound by an extra set of rules. Princess Ha Yuri Zahard was the only chosen Princess to have received one of the 13-Month Series weapons in the last five hundred years, although that might partly be because Zahard became inactive later on.
She notably wielded two of the 13-Month Series, Black March, and Green April, before lending the latter to Baam after encountering him on the first floor to assist him in his journey. The 13-Month Series features twelve Ignition Weapons and an Arms Inventory, which are some of the strongest weapons in the series, rivaling those used by the heads of the Ten Great Families.
The Role Of The Zahard Princesses In the Tower’s Political Structure
What Impact Do They Have?
The Princesses serve as both the enforcers of Zahard’s will and representatives of his influence throughout the Tower. However, they also possess their ambitions, desires, and agendas, which often put them at odds with each other. As a result,Princesses who wield weaponsfrom the 13-Month Series are allowed to confront each other without any consequences, even if it results in death.
As befitting of such huge needle movers, Princesses are very integral to the overarching narrative due to their influence in the Tower and the sheer power they possess. Their involvement with those climbing the Tower can either be of great help or detriment, depending on whether they are for or against them.
