Nestor recently finished an 18-dayTwitch subathon, clocking in at over 394 hours, where he played random games and did entertaining IRL streams. Just a day after the successful subathon, the creator was banned from Twitch due to inappropriate content that was shown in one of his streams.
StreamerBans announced Nestor’s ban on Twitter, to which he responded with a simple “Whoops.” At first, many of his fans were confused about the sanction, especially with the slew ofquestionable Twitch bans lately. But they quickly figured out that it was because of sexual content that appeared in one of his Wikipedia Speedruns during the subathon.
Why Was EthanNestor Banned From Twitch?
The goal of Wikipedia Speedruns is to make way to a specific topic using only the hyperlinks inside a Wikipedia page. In one round, Nestor was challenged to reach the page of a female reproductive body part beginning from the page of peanuts. He successfully accomplished the task, but made the mistake of showing the explicit image of the body part a bit too long on stream, which eventually led to the Twitch ban. The clip of the moment was also reposted a number of times on Twitter, drawing laughs and confused reactions from many people.
Twitch is very strict in enforcing its Community Guidelines, especially when it comes to sexual content being shown on stream, regardless of the medium. Despite the inconvenience that the ban caused, many fans found the incident funny, joking that at least Twitch was considerate enough to let Nestor finish the subathon. Some also said that it was only a matter of time before Nestor got banned because of the explicit image he showed on stream. As of writing, Nestor’s Twitch channel hasn’t been reinstated, and it’s unknown when the platform will lift the ban.
While many streamers have been banned for breaking Twitch’s guidelines, there are also others who have received sanctions for unknown reasons. An example of the latter wasAnimalisaKeys getting a sudden suspensiondue to a vague reason, which also confused Twitch CEO Dan Clancy. The inconsistency in Twitch’s ban policy has frustrated many streamers because it can greatly affect their jobs and revenue, especially when there are channels that haven’t been reinstated for years.
