Summary
AValheimplayer has shared a video tour of the impressive mansion they built on top of a tar pit. The open-world survival sandbox game by Sweden-based Iron Gate Studio has been incredibly popular since it launched into early access in February 2021. Despite technically still being a work in progress,Valheimcontinues to enjoy a dedicated player base, thanks in part to the regular updates released by the developer.
The latest major update to the Viking-themedValheimadded the Ashlands biome in May. The fiery location gave players a new threat to contend with: cinders falling from the sky that can harm people and buildings alike, setting wooden structures alight and even spreading into other zones. The update also added Charred enemies, a plethora of new materials for crafting, and a ton of recipes for food, armor, weapons, furniture, and buildings.
There are of course plenty of other zones for players to explore, many of them more hospitable for building a settlement. One player, who goes by simsekblog on YouTube, shared a 20-minute video of themselves building an elaborate mansion on top of atar pit inValheim’s Plains region. The design of the building is particularly interesting, as it sits atop a somewhat small base jutting out of the center of the tar pit. The ground surrounding the pit has been cleared out to create a double mote for added protection from potential raids.
A Valheim Player’s Cozy Home on a Tar Pit
Inside simsekblog’s mansion, everything is placed precisely for ease of use and aesthetics. The large number ofstorage chests players accumulate inValheimcan quickly become a challenge to manage. But the YouTuber craftily stuck several of them above the entrance staircase, where they inconspicuously blend in. Kiln, smelter, hearth, and portals fill the rest of the central chamber, while an outer hallway that circles the entire building is filled with other useful crafting benches and decorations.
As the video has only recently been posted, there aren’t many comments about simsekblog’sValheimmansion yet. However, the player has shared many other builds on their YouTube channel, each as spectacular as the last. Similar to games likeMinecraft, Once Human,orAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, part of the draw ofValheimis that it allows players to take any idea they have, elaborate or otherwise, and bring it to life. People regularly share thebases they’ve created inValheim, not only earning deserved praise but also giving other players ideas for their own builds.
