10Form Higher Tier Nations

A small amount of prestige comes from the country’s tier, that is, whether it’s a duchy, a kingdom, an empire etc. The trouble is, a country’s tier is set at the start of the game, and it never changes. It’s an inherent value.
But tier can be increased - with the resulting boosts in prestige - by forming a new country which is of a greater tier. Many countries are able to form new countries either through conquest or a more complex Unification Play, so if it’s possible, it’s often a good idea to do. A good example is forming the Empire of Ethiopia as one of the Ethiopian minors.
9Complete Expeditions
Find the Source of Nile
Countries inVictoria 3with enough control of or presence in certain regions of the map have the ability to conduct very expensive expeditions to achieve various aims, such as finding the source of the River Nile, or the location of the South Pole.
These expeditions have a lot of events associated with them, and can reward players with a lot of prestige. This isn’t the best way to increase rank as the ability to successfully complete these expeditions comes later on in the game. But for countries that can manage it, it could be the difference between rank 2 and rank 1.

Certain places on the map contain impressive monuments which confer prestige to the country that owns them. But in addition to these monuments, it’s possible to construct major canals, such as the Panama Canal or the Suez Canal.
Although these massive constructions cost a lot of construction points to build, the boosts to prestige are also very impressive. Not only that, but these canals can simply be naval transport, making it a very attractive proposition when it comes to moving around a navy.

Certain technologiesin the Society technology tree provide a direct boost to prestige. These can be a great way to creep up the rankings, although as a percentage increase, they won’t do much for countries with very low prestige.
But in terms of the investment required to activate them, these techs are pretty accessible. Every country produces research points, and more prestige is nice. Especially since these are guaranteed, permanent boosts.

Nations inVictoria 3can climb through the ranks by having a large military. The more men it has in its standing army, the more prestige a nation gains. Even basic armies without much in the way of advanced support provide nice bonuses, so even less advanced nations can make use of a large army.

Production from subjects can improve the overlord’s GDP, which increases prestige. But subjects also directly provide prestige depending on their own production and power projection, albeit at a reduced rate compared with a country’s own prestige generation. But every little helps.
