While it may be easy for gamers to get used to a new platformer, first-person shooter, or adventure game, others may struggle a bit more. Gamers can breeze through their favorite titles because they’re gamers, and it’s what they’re good at. However, it’s curious to think howvideo game protagoniststhemselves would manage if handed a controller.

While these talented protagonists may be heroes in their own world, they ironically may not be able to handle the part of their lives gamers deal with on the other side of the screen. Here are some of the best video game protagonists who would be absolutely horrible at playing their own titles.

Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Leon S. Kennedy may be a highly skilled operative but it’s unlikely that skill would transfer over to video games. Leon was only 21 when he was forced to become a government agent right after the events ofRaccoon City back inResident Evil 2. Leon didn’t have a lot of time in his life to enjoy himself, let alone his childhood. Most of poor Leon’s Life was spent fighting or training. The closest Leon had ever been to playing video games was when he’d compete in the shooting range inResident Evil 4. Thankfully, Leon has the help of his trusty merchant friend to allow him to relax with some carnival games.

Big Boss, a.k.a. Naked Snake, was an amazing special forces operative and mercenary commander. He was skilled in combat, marksmanship, as well as covert operations involving espionage. Big Boss wasconsidered a jack of all trades, and it almost seemed as if there was nothing he could fail at. However, if Boss were ever handed a controller to play his very own game, it’s likely he’d finally find himself struggling with a hobby he’s no good at.

Boss was born back in the 30s and while the first video game ever made was released in 1958, Boss’s military career started in the 50s, making it likely that Boss hasn’t even done so much as touch a video game; especially one as advanced as theMetal Gearseries.

Before becoming a certified necromorph killer on the USG Ishimura, Isaac Clarke was asimple ship systems engineer. Isaac may have gotten good at aiming to dismember limbs, but aiming a plasma cutter isn’t quite a transferable skill.

Isaac Clarke in Dead Space

Isaac Clarke may have been a bit of a nerd when he was younger, but very little is known about Isaac in his childhood or teenage years. Whether or not he dabbled in the world of video games or not is unknown, but by the timeDead Space 3had come out, Isaac had already dedicated a good portion of his life to fighting back against the Unitologists and their mind-controlling Markers.

Animal Crossingisn’t exactly the hardest game in terms of player difficulty and is actually considered a great entry game for beginners and young children. However, there is one specific reason why theAnimal CrossingVillager would be no good at playing the games: their hands.

TheACVillager, much like theother animal residentsin the game, doesn’t have any fingers, let alone opposable thumbs. This makes the game a lot more difficult for them. Although there are likely other ways for the Villager to find other means to play the very game they star in, with a normal Nintendo Switch controller (or joycons), they would simply be no good.

Theadorable feline protagonistfromStraydoesn’t have an official name but often goes by “Ginger” among the fandom. While Ginger may be cute and incredibly independent, he still remains a mere cat. Ginger made for a fantastic protagonist in the story of his own game, but when it comes to playingStray, most game controllers are simply not cat-friendly.

Ginger would likely struggle with almost everything; from reading the tutorials and controls to the actual gameplay itself. Despite this, Ginger would make for a perfect companion to play just about any video game with, at the very least.

Sims are notorious for being rather stubborn and not being the best at self-care. They’re often seenneglecting their basic needsor setting themselves on fire by accident, resulting in their untimely death. How would Sims be able to care for other Sims in their game if they can’t even take care of themselves? It’s true some Sims are good at gaming (given the right build), but in the event of a Sim playing their ownSims 4game, it would likely end in many dead Sims.

Pilgor is the infamous goat that stars inGoat Simulator 3.Despite allhis talents within the game, Pilgor would likely not be able to play his own game very well as hooves just aren’t gaming-friendly.

It all makes sense as humans needGoat Simulator 3to understand the experience of being a goat, while Pilgor doesn’t need an entire simulator to experience the life he lives normally. Hopefully, one day in the future, beloved animal friends will be able to play video games too.
