Reddit user TheRealSpill shared a video of their attempt to take onPutrescent Knight inShadow of the Erdtree. In order to get to the boss' location, players need to jump to a specific spot on the map. Jumping requires a literal leap of faith, plunging players down hundreds of feet, which would normally kill them. However, FromSoftware designed this fall specifically not to cause damage to players, making for a visually stunning introduction to the area’s boss. Unfortunately, a glitch caused the player to die like normal, making for a very anticlimactic moment in their adventure.

It’s unclear what caused the glitch to occur in the first place. The player jumped from the correct spot, which leads to Putrescent Knight, but immediately died as soon as they touched the ground. Gravity has often been one of the hardest obstacles players face in FromSoftware games, though this spot was deliberately designed not to affect players.
