Fallout 76’s Milepost Zero Update Will Introduce Some Welcome Features

New Location Milepost Zero and Outpost Mechanic

Likely the biggest addition toFallout 76slated for release with theMilepost Zero updateis the titular Milepost Zero, a new location coming to the Skyline Valley region. Milepost Zero is an outpost for the Blue Ridge Caravan Company and serves as the introduction for this update’s new outpost mechanic. Players will be able to run their own outpost, customizing it with different decorations and vendors that they will be able to unlock as they work their way through the outpost upgrades, adding a new layer of customization toFallout 76’s gameplay.

More Content Focused on the Blue Ridge Caravan Company

With Milepost Zero being an outpost for theBlue Ridge Caravan Company, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the majority of the story content coming in this update will focus on this merchant group. Part of this new story content comes in the form of the new Caravan: Skyline Drive event that requires players to escort a brahmin caravan through routes across the wasteland. Aside from running their own caravans, players will also be able to hop in and aid others with their caravans, likely resulting in a quick and easy event for players to farm.

Legendary Crafting Rework

Mechanically, the biggest change coming toFallout 76with the Milepost Zero update is a rework of legendary crafting. This new legendary crafting system is designed to streamlineFallout 76players' experience when trying to craft their ideal legendary by removing some of the RNG involved in rolling for legendary mods and allowing players to scrap legendary gear to earn legendary particles that can be used to craft specific legendary mods. In theory, this new system should help save time and resources for players trying to get the ideal legendary gear for their build and create a smoother late-game experience.

This new legendary crafting system is available for players to try viaFallout 76’s Public Test Server and may change before its full release with the Milepost Zero update.

Best Builds Social Feature

Milepost Zero will also add a boost toFallout 76’s social features with the introduction of the best builds feature. Players will be able to submit theirFallout 76CAMPsfor a public vote, and the top-rated ones will be marked as such so others will be able to easily see the most popular builds on a server and draw inspiration for their own CAMP. With Milepost Zero also introducing a variety of new CAMP items for players to obtain from the Atom Shop, this best builds feature will be a great way to show them off.
