Summary
Since its reveal, it has been made abundantly clear thatAssassin’s Creed Shadowsis unlike anyAssassin’s Creedbefore it, combining gameplay elements that bridge the gap between the series' past and its present in an attempt to appeal to fans of classicAssassin’s Creedas well as more modern fans and newcomers. Despite being met with a considerable amount of controversy for its depiction of feudal Japan and a non-Japanese protagonist,Assassin’s Creed Shadowsstill has a lot to offer in its diverse combat options, dynamic open world, and innovative stealth system. There may even be something worthwhile here for fans of the cozy genre, should they find themselves intrigued enough to brave the waters.
Assassin’s Creed Shadowsis packed with plenty of new features for players to enjoy, and while most of them are directly related to stealth, combat, and exploration, one outlier sees players enjoying a creativity-fueled respite in their very own hideout. Hideouts aren’t new to theAssassin’s Creedfranchise, as players have often been given a central location to return to where they can pick up new quests or advance the story. InAssassin’s Creed Shadows, however, players are given a fully customizable hideout that might appeal to fans ofcozy games, assuming the customization is as extensive as it seems.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows' Customizable Hideout Might Appeal to Fans of Cozy Games
TheAssassin’s Creedseries has almost always given players a hideout of some kind to return to, but rarely have they been customizable in the way of allowing players to personalize them with various decorations. Each hideout has also been fairly small and inconspicuous, as any good hideout might be.Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, on the other hand, provides players withthe Ravensthorpe settlement, the franchise’s most customizable settlement yet. In Ravensthorpe, players can decorate it with various items and vegetation, such as statues and trees.
However, the biggest highlight of the Ravensthorpe settlement is the opportunity it allows players to construct buildings that offer different perks and unique missions they couldn’t acquire anywhere else. Players can construct buildings like Mayda’s House and the Bakery to increase the bonus offered by the feast mechanic, which is triggered by players calling for a feast in the settlement’s Longhouse. There are other buildings available as well, like the Hidden Ones Bureau, that allow players to start special quests. All of this to say, ifAssassin’s Creed Shadows’ hideout customizationis anything likeAssassin’s Creed Valhalla’s or better, cozy fans are in for a treat.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Hideout Is Fully Customizable
The intricate details behindAssassin’s Creed Shadows’ hideout customization have yet to be unveiled by Ubisoft, but it can be assumed the feature will at least be on par withAssassin’s Creed Valhalla’s settlement building. At the same time, some clues provided in theUltimate Edition bonuses forAssassin’s Creed Shadowsseem to indicate more extensive customization. Included in the Ultimate Edition are four unique cosmetic items that presumably won’t otherwise be attainable in-game. One of the items is a large banner that players may be able to attach to a building in their hideout. Another item is a parasol, which is likely to be used as a simple decorative piece.
It’s unclear what allAssassin’s Creed Shadows’ hideout customization will entail, but it would make sense for it to use the features ofAssassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Ravensthorpe settlement as a starting point. It would be ideal if it turned out to be something similar toLike a Dragon: Infinite Wealth’s Dondoko Island, as it has some of the most extensive customization in a non-cozy game, so it would provide a decent example forAssassin’s Creed Shadowsto follow. If it does, and it takes that customization even further, fans of cozy games that involve interior and exterior decoration might find something to enjoy inAssassin’s Creed Shadows.
