No More Room in Hell 2’s Melee Might Be The Star of The Show
Torn Banner Studios Has a Long History of Melee-Focused Games
Founded in 2010, Torn Banner Studios made a pretty big splash with its debut game,Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. Stemming from an old 2007Half-Life 2mod by Torn Banner’s founder Steve Piggott,Chivalry: Medieval Warfaremanaged to carve out a healthy niche for itself upon its 2012 launch, offering melee-focused combat in a historical setting, something completely different from contemporaries likeCall of Duty: Black Ops 2,Borderlands 2, andHalo 4.
Much like any other first-person online game of the time,Chivalrysaw two teams battle it out in a series of classicobjective-based modes, from King of the Hill to Capture the Flag and a good few in between. But rather than use guns to eliminate opponents,Chivalrytasked players with striking their foes down with swords, hammers, maces, and other medieval-era implements.
Another thing that setChivalryapart from its contemporaries was its extreme level of gore, with players being able to brutally dismember and decapitate enemy players. In 2021,Chivalry 2was released, a sequel that upped the ante in just about every way by introducing more modes, a higher player cap, and even gorier visual effects.
Melee Weapons Seem to Play a Major Role in No More Room in Hell 2
With such a strong background in brutal, gory melee-focused combat, it seems as though Torn Banner Studios is the perfect choice for azombie survival game likeNo More Room in Hell 2, and its recent trailer seems to evidence that. Released during Summer Game Fest,No More Room in Hell 2’s most recent trailer focuses heavily on melee combat, showing the player hack and slash their way through a few different mobs of zombies, resulting in some violent bursts of blood and viscera, and revealing some horrifyingly-detailed zombie body parts.
Though it’s still too early to judgeNo More Room in Hell 2, it does seem as though the game’s melee combat could be a big highlight of the experience, with it hopefully being as responsive and satisfying as Torn Banner Studios' previous works.
