Paramount Television Studios is officially shutting down, raising questions about the future ofReacherand other shows. Paramount TV is part of the media company Paramount Global, which produces content for Paramount+ and other streaming services.Prime Videois one of the streamers that falls under that bracket, and this has fans wondering how this could affectReacherseason 3 in particular, but also the longer future of the action series.
Reacheris currently a joint venture between Paramount, Skydance and Amazon Studios, but the shutdown of the TV division of Paramount will see CBS Studios take over as co-producers ofReacher.Alan Ritchson has already wrapped filmingonReacherseason 3, with a release date currently not known, but it’s likely it’ll be sometime in 2025.
Why is Paramount’s Television Studios Shutting Down?
Paramount Television Studios will cease to be operational this week due to rising debts for its parent company.Paramount Global also plans to lay off 15% of its staff in order to cut costs amounting to over $500 million, before it merges with Skydance. Essentially, the changes in the industry have led to this necessary decision. The Hollywood Reporter revealed what Paramount TV Studios President Nicole Clemens wrote in a memo to staffabout the tough decision:
As you’re all aware, Paramount Global has made the difficult decision to close Paramount Television Studios as part of the company’s broader restructuring plans. This has been a challenging and transformative time for the entire industry, and sadly, our studio is not immune.
The news of Paramount TV studios shutting down did come as a major shock as it has been responsible for a string of successful productions. However, the decision doesn’t reflect the studio’s performance, with other factors coming into play. The TV and streaming world is changing and evolving all the time and there was clearly a need to streamline the company. Nicole Clemens will also depart the company, and it is unclear what steps her career will take next.
How will these changes affect Reacher Season 3?
It is not expected thatReacherseason 3 will be affected too much by behind-the-scenes changes, as filming has already been completed. However, CBS Studios taking control ofReachercould affect the direction of the show from season 4 onwards. Alan Ritchson has stated that he wants to keep playing the eponymous action hero for as long as possible, with Lee Child’s books potentially providing the basis for many more stories to come.
Reacheris one of the most-watched shows on Prime Video, so it’s highly likely season 3 will continue its massive success when it lands on the platform sometime in 2025. CBS Studios are bound to want to keep this going, and invest heavily in it. However,a change in management could seeReacherbecome something completely different and that is a worry for fans.Having said that, Skydance and Amazon Studios will still have a huge influence onReacher, as they will be involved in production alongside CBS Studios, so any drastic changes would have to go through them first.

Reacherseason 3 will see the titular ex-military investigator take on his most dangerous case yet.Season 3 will be based on Lee Child’s seventh book,Persuader, and it sees Jack Reacher going undercover to bring down anew villain, Zachary Peck(Anthony Michael Hall), who is a drug trafficker. Reacher successfully gets Peck onside by staging a kidnapping of his son, and ‘rescuing’ him.
ReacherSeason 3 will also see the bulking protagonist coming up against one of Peck’s henchmen, who is even bigger than him in size and stature.Olivier Richters will play big villain, Paulie, who featured in the Persuader book, and season 3 is set to stay true to his tussles with Reacher from the books, with co-star, Anthony Michael teasing what to expect in aninterview with Cinema Blend.
That character [Paulie] does live in the show, and they have an epic battle. I don’t want to give it away, but yeah, they definitely meet as they do in the book. … You know, Reacher and Paulie colliding – there’s something Marvel about that, right? They’re like two superhero-sized guys, so it’s kind of cool.
Fans can also look forward to the return of Frances Neagley (Maria Sten) inReacherseason 3,who will once again join forces with Reacher, to help him defeat his latest enemies. However, it is unclear if the rest ofthe 110th Special Investigatorswill play a part in season 3 after they became fan favorites in the much laudedReacherseason 2. CBS Studios are taking over one of the best shows around, so it might be a case of keeping things relatively the same if Reacher is to thrive moving forward.
