With weeks to go until the launch of its tenth expansion, Blizzard shared the patch notes for the upcomingWorld of Warcraft: The War Within11.0.2 update. Patch 11.0.2 will bring class balance and talent tree updates across the board toWorld of Warcraft, fix some outstanding bugs, and make some user interface and accessibility changes once the patch goes live on August 13.
Although the full release ofWorld of Warcraft: The War Withinis slated for August 26, that has not stopped Blizzard from releasing patches and hotfixes for the long-running MMORPG ahead of time.The War Withinwill also bring new Hero Talents for each class specialization to use once players set foot on the shores of the lost continent of Khaz Algar. Ahead ofThe War Within’s release, Blizzard also started giving players a glimpse of the enemies they will face, as the company launched a new series ofanimated shorts focusing on characters like Queen Ansurek. The Nerubian despot will be the final boss of the Azj-Kahet raid, which will open in September.
Two weeks beforeThe War Within’s global launch, Blizzard will give players some more changes to look forward to. According to the patch notes, Patch 11.0.2 will focus heavily on balance changes, withall 13 ofWorld of Warcraft’s classesreceiving some attention across the board. Some DPS specializations, like the Retribution Paladin and the Beast Mastery Hunter, saw their power toned down by varying margins. By contrast, other specializations that were not performing well, such as Protection Paladin, Elemental Shaman, and all Warlocks, received some adjustments to their spells and abilities to close the gap. Separate changes were also made to most specializations in PVP, with the Druid, Warlock, and Mage receiving significant updates in Battlegrounds and Arenas.
In previous updates,World of Warcraftfixed issues with the Warband system, including a critical bug that rendered the Warband Bank unusable for a short time. Patch 11.0.2 will also make some fixes to user interface issues in response to player feedback. The quest interface will have different font colors while Dark Mode is enabled, and will use white fonts to allow players to read any dialogue options.
Additional cursors and interactive icons were also updated with new artwork to match what was done in Patch 11.0. BetweenWorld of Warcraft’s ongoing Radiant Echoes eventand the upcoming class balance changes in Patch 11.0.2, players will still have time to choose which class they will level up first onceThe War Withinarrives.
