Shortly after its release in May 2024, Kuro Games' free-to-play RPGWuthering Wavesbecame a massive success. The title quickly made its way to the top of the charts in over 100 regions days after launch.Wuthering Waveshas since been praised for its visuals in combat and fast-paced exploration mechanics. On the other hand, the game did receive criticism over its graphics glitches, particularly in mobile gameplay. However, Kuro Games has openly shared its willingness to listen to feedback, which fans appreciated.Wuthering Wavesis currently in version 1.1, which brought players new quests, characters, and Echoes. Version 1.2 is on its way, and Kuro Games has confirmed an exciting reward will be coming with it.
As a means to thank the community for its feedback on the game and constant support,Wuthering Wavesis giving all players the limited five-star character Xiangli Yao for free.As confirmed by Kuro Games, the character will be gifted during the second half of Version 1.2, with an event called the “Moon-Chasing Festival.” Players will likely have to participate in the event to claim Xiangli Yao, who is an Electro DPS and gauntlet user. With this special gift from the developer, Xiangli Yao joins the list ofWuthering Waves' free characters, if only during the 1.2 update.
Wuthering Waves Will Give Players 5-Star Xiangli Yao for Free
Aside from Xiangli Yao, Version 1.2 is also debuting 5-star Resonator Zhezhi during the first half. Both characters will feature inWuthering Waves' next banners. The update will bring multiple optimizations too. According to the developer, players will gain access to the new Custom Lock-On feature, allowing them to set auto lock-on priorities for enemies depending on their combat preferences. A new Utility Hoverdroid called “Shooter” is being introduced to help players with certain shooting challenges and puzzles.Wuthering Wavesis also adding the possibility to play at 120 FPS on select PC devices, with more details on this in the future.
Another new feature will also let fans store excess Waveplates, meaning that when they reach the Waveplate limit, they’ll receive up to 480 Waveplate Crystals instead. These can be exchanged for Waveplates of the same value. Another optimization will increase in the Guidebook Activity Points obtained from spending 180 Waveplates, so that players can complete their daily Activity Points quests faster. And a new Resonator Showcase feature, which can replay the Convene cutscenes players see when pulling for a new character is coming as well.
Wuthering WavesVersion 1.2, “In the Turquoise Moonglow,” is scheduled to drop on August 15 across all available platforms. Kuro Games has confirmed thatWuthering Wavesis coming to PS5, but an official launch date is still unknown. For the time being, players can pull for the new 5-star Resonator Changli, whose banner is still running.
