Three more are now set to follow later today, as the service is about to loseAtomic Heart,Guilty Gear Strive, andNBA 2K24. The latest installment in theNBA 2Kseries had the briefest Xbox Game Pass stint of the newly departing trio, as it was only added to Microsoft’s content library back in March 2024. That’s also when 2K announced thatNBA 2K24will leave Xbox Game Pass at the end of August, so this move has been a long time coming.

The two othertitles set to leave Xbox Game Pass on August 31have both been part of the platform’s library since early 2023.Atomic Heartwas even a day-one release on the service, with its OpenCritic aggregate score of 74 making it one of the highest-rated new Xbox Game Pass additions in March 2023. Meanwhile,Guilty Gear Strivereached the XGP catalog around 20 months following its original release. It is also the only game of the newly departing trio that can feasibly be beaten from start to finish in a single day; according to HowLongToBeat data, theGuilty Gear Strivestory mode takes approximately five hours to complete.
Xbox Game Pass Set to Remove More Games Than It Adds in August 2024
Today’s removals will bring the number of this month’s Xbox Game Pass departures to seven. Seeing how the service has only added six new titles since the turn of the month, August 2024 will end up being a small net loss for the XGP catalog. That is, at least, if not accounting for theCall of Duty: Black Ops 6beta that became available to Xbox Game Pass memberson August 30. This month’s removals and additions would have been perfectly balanced hadSOPA: The Tale of the Stolen Potatohit its previously stated August 2024 release window, but that didn’t come to pass.
Moving forward, Xbox Game Pass currently has five confirmed September 2024 titles, all of which happen to be day-one releases. This group comprisesStar Trucker,Age of Mythology: Retold,Train Sim World 5,Frostpunk 2, andAra: History Untold. Ubisoft’sRiders Republicis also rumored to be coming to the service circa September 11.
